Is it worth renewing

I think LLM was asking about any differences between the people who use the sites, Mikey. That's dodgy ground, I say😉

I think it's LLM who's interested, Mikey, rather than me. 👍🏻

a rather big difference really, you can't take a tent to the vast majority of CAMC sites

yes there is.....with tenters you tend to get younger families with children, and a tenting community are normally much more sociable than those who lock themselves away in the white box and watch telly.
But seriously some years ago my daughter and SIL bought a caravan and joined CAMC, and there reaction OMG, never again and left after 12 months, mind you they never joined the CCC either, you can think about the OMG reaction and form your own conclusions, clue, they did have 3 young children.

Yes very true DT, but I idly wonder which club gets more trailer tents?

I never mentioned barriers at all, only that they cater for two differing types of camper?
Choice is good.

All camping club sites are 1300 arrival and if Sandringham is a model with 4 staff seeing members to their pitch and at busy times units backed up onto the estate roads when the pitch "offered is not to the members liking" ps the cycles are not ccc supplied,
also the ccc have different sections for add cost, the booking system is very poor in comparison to the cc(we had been members for a short while )which we found made it difficult if on a tour to alter dates ,
It would be "interesting" for the staff as both clubs site managers have different conditions of employment ,this club tends to attract ccc staff

I think both clubs use barriers, don’t they?🙂

JVB, As usual your defence of the CAMC is overwhelmingly one sided!
You quote that all of the CCC sites are 1.00pm opening but how many of the CAMC sites are now 1.00pm arrival as I'm sure I read recently that 12.00 is certainly not the case everywhere. Is it now approaching 10?, 50?, 80?

There might be something in that DT, I do wonder what caused things like that? The impression/ideas that people have to make a decision one way or the other.

I've renewed with both clubs, I appreciated having the membership costs extended with C&CC but the first sites we went to after lockdown were CAMC and I booked them ahead so no messing around with re-joining. Now it's 2021 and I've booked sites with both clubs and hopefully we'll be able to take up those bookings. The C&CC have got our deposits and CAMC haven't so it swings and roundabouts cost wise.
I'd rather look forward in hope than retreat from membership.

JVB, To save you the effort of finding out how many CAMC sites now have a 1.00pm arrival (or later) the answer is
"drum roll please"
90, yes 90 (as shown in the latest Sites Directory)
So probably a permanent change and not Covid related

For me, the differences between the CAMC and the CCC. Include:
Tents allowed on all CCC sites. CAMC sites tents are often not allowed/ not allowed on all sites (except Trailer Tents)
CAMC have a fair number of Serviced pitches. CCC have very few Serviced Pitches.
CAMC have almost twice as many Club sites as the CCC.
CAMC sites generally have more hardstandings, but they cannot be reserved when you book. CCC have a smaller number of hardstandings, but, they are generally not as spacious as the CAMC sites, but they can be reserved when you book.
CCC require a deposit when booking. The CAMC do not require a deposit.
CCC sites generally look 'greener' and less formal, than CAMC sites, mainly because of the greater proportion of grass pitches. Hardstanding pitches have to be 'fixed'. The CCC tend to change the location of grass pitches, more often as many are not marked out in a 'fixed' manner. The CAMC are less able to do this because of landscaping and the number of hardstanding pitches.
Generally, I find the toilet blocks and facilities better equipped on CAMC sites, with more service points and Chemical Disposal points dispersed throughout the sites.
The CCC site staff manage pitch allocation 'on the ground' whereas the CAMC leave members to choose pitches on arrival.
I find little or no difference between the quality/ friendliness or otherwise of the site staff. Each site is different and each warden is different. I have always found site staff of both Clubs really hardworking.
Folk asked for differences... these are my personal perceptions. There are many more differences e.g. differences in insurance products, the way each Club organises its members 'local branches' etc. Hopefully this might give those who are unfamiliar with either Club, something to go on. Generally, you pay the money and make the choice, or do as many of us do - join both and pay twice. 😃😃
