Clubsite bookings 2021

I am having a “think like a Tyke” day🤓

As most of you know one of my frequent flyer sites is Troutbeck Head. A few miles away is the Quiet Site (which is actually the first site we ever stayed at before we saw the light) and I always keep an eye on their prices and booking conditions.
For the last week in July 2021, for a couple the price per night with the club is £42.70 on a SP, no deposit, no cancelation charges, lose one night if you don't leave enough time to let them know and want to leave early...you know the rest. Children up to 18 are just a £1
For the Quiet Site the same pitch comes in at £50, 'deposit' is the full cost of the holiday payable now, and to cancel:
If you cancel more than 14 days before the start date of your holiday, you will forfeit an administration charge of £10 per night booked and the balance will be refunded. Alternatively, we can issue a full credit note for all monies paid. No refunds or credit notes will be issued where a cancellation is made within 14 days of the start date of the holiday. ...If you are unable to take your holiday due to travel restrictions imposed as a result of war, pandemic outbreaks etc we are normally unable to refund monies but will issue full credit notes valid for 2 years from the arrival date.
And if you want to leave early:
Monies will not be refunded should any members of your group fail to arrive or leave the site early, whatever the circumstances
Children over 15 pay full adult prices, dogs are extra too.
There are minimum night stays but these are usually two/three nights and hence weekends could still be taken at the 'expense' of longer stayers.
Do people who complaining about the club really think this is better and actually want that?

Seriously😉, the one thing I do know about is having a commodity of space, equipment and time to sell, (badminton courts, squash courts, tennis courts, 5 a side pitches, swimming pools for hire, sports halls for hire, events halls for hire, canoes, sailboard and sailing boats for hire). You only get once chance to fill that opportunity, and maximise its income and potential. Once a squash court at 7pm is either in use or not, by 7.40pm, that time and space can never be sold again.
Its exactly the same with Club Sites. Finite number of pitches, across several locations, time and space needing to be sold. That is the bottom line, filling those pitches, getting in the income. I was never interested in seeing that Joe Bloggs filled a squash court every Tuesday night come rain or shine. All that was required was that the time was filled, income generated, bills paid, staff kept employed. Justification that what we were providing was a successful product, the demand was there.
The other strand of course is Marketing, selling what you have, ensuring you get as much income in as possible (we had health provision and community provision in the mix as well, but it can get complicated). If something isn’t going as well as expected, you discount it, or set up special offers. No different with the Club selling pitches, MWD, offers of various kinds. The Club has a very well paid successful Marketing Director, probably has a good team set up to monitor performance across all areas, Site sales being one. But I doubt that they monitor Joe Bloggs and his holiday either, just look at how pitch usage and income are doing, making sure targets are satisfactory, perhaps concentrating on attracting different user groups where they think it is needed.
Thats the Club’s role in all this. A commercial enterprise looking to survive in a huge holiday provision industry. All Joe Bloggs has to do is make sure he understands how popular some aspects (Sites, pitches, dates) can be, how much he really cares about getting exactly what he needs, and then doing his best to achieve that aim. 👍

"Do people who complaining about the club really think this is better and actually want that?"
I should say I am not complaining re the club, if i want to use a club site and could not find one i would look elsewhere simple, I dont tend to use club sites simply because it it difficult to find what I would want, e.g. swimming pool, i like to swim everyday when away.
What you have outlined above are the terms and conditions applied by many commercial sites, some not quite as strict some even more strict, but if you use commercial sites, and i do, then the choice is yours, as is with the club.
So for me the club is ok as is, if i want to visit a particular area and there is a club site within the area that fulfills my requirements I might well use it if available, if not i would look elsewhere , simple.

I didn't say you were Ruffs at all, but others seem to want deposits?
Actually I agree with your post and it really echoes what I've said many times, that is find what suits you, or one, and use that. But then don't try and get one to be like the other, or say one is better, it really does come down what someone wants.

What I do know is that if the Club introduce a deposit system then I will almost certainly look at the alternatives for sites in that area. At the moment I tend to just book club sites if there is no CL in the area unless I have stayed at a nearby commercial site before and like it.
Next year I have reserved pitches on 3 club sites on a tour with CLs making up the remainder. I haven't checked alternatives for the club sites because I was happy with the price and I didn't want to commit to deposits bearing in mind how this year's touring has gone. Only 1 of the CLs wanted a small £10 deposit and I was happy to pay this as it's exactly where I want to be.
So the club will probably lose some bookings from me if there is another alternative in the area that takes my fancy.
At this moment in time I'm happy to leave the system as it is particularly since the booking year has been extended to a rollover system.

Our thoughts exactly WN. In fact, it’s what we have done for a few years now to be honest. We holiday often at very short notice, so rarely book anything pitch wise. We can’t be bothered with faffing about with deposits. I don’t baulk at paying full amount for a cottage if it’s where and what we need, so happy to reserve something that might be a one off. But there are dozens of different pitching alternatives, we never worry.

I do not think any money is "lost" by some thinking they are being "hard done by" when not getting a pitch they want on a site they want , when sites are so full ,and getting more busy year by year
I suspect like HMG it will be many years before any "promises" made in the past, can now be fulfilled in the timescale hoped for,

Actually, the Club’s booking technology (which is, let’s face it, the most important bit) is very good. It’s allows bookings over multiple sites, is quick and easy to use, easy to amend, gives a confirmation, relates information to the relevant Site, does all it needs to really.
Much easier than trying to book Seat 29, in Top Tier at Riverside Stadium on a cold evening in February anyway!😁

Whilst the Club has hinted at changes to the booking system for 2022 onwards there is very little flesh on the bones. What do we know, well we know they will have new software similar or the same as used for overseas site bookings. The only thing that seems to have been acknowledged thus far is the ability to be able to book a pitch surface, like a hardstanding in the same way as you can currently book a serviced pitch, a non awning/awning pitch. So it is possible that could be the extent of the changes? Clearly the software is capable of taking deposits but just because it can doesn't mean it will.
The only people clamouring for deposits are those who feel disadvantaged because they can't book pitches when they want. No guarantee a deposit would solve that problem? What is also missing is any sense from the Club that elements of the booking system are not working. Now they could be keeping that to themselves but in the past that information has leaked out. Many will remember that late cancellations were causing a problem long before the new 72 hour system was put in place. I think most agree that what is discussed on this forum plays no major part in Club future policy but the Club have other means at their disposal to form a view like social media or direct contact. In the past senior members of the club have publicly said they don't think deposits are the answer so we will have to wait to see what changes might be proposed and whether the Club will seek a consultation rather than saying member feedback.

Boro have quite a strong supporters turnout, back when they were in PL under Gareth Southgate, matches were often sold out, and the Riverside is a lovely big stadium. Been to some great games there, including the 9-1 stuffing of Sven’s Manchester City. We used to go to a lot of home games, had Pride membership at the time, which got us priority to tickets. In fact, we were last up there last January, to see Mourhino’s Tottenham in FACup. Only just got tickets for that game......😁

That’s it’s posh name AD, Gresty Road to the faithful.😁
Middlesboro’s Riverside Stadium was the first football stadium built to comply with the Taylor report, which looked into some of the big disasters that had occurred. Completed in just eight weeks, the old gates to Ayresome Park stand as a feature outside the ground. Having been to a few of the big ones, I think it’s one of the best, it has lots of atmosphere, good sight lines. Away supporters get the full Arctic blast that rattles down from the North😂 Home supporters are nice and cosy up in the high tiers😉

I hope they can manage to staff more this year, recall the ask for those interested in training as Wardens last year?
On a personal note, fingers crossed the Racecourse Sites re open, it’s these we miss the most.

Haven't even started to think about 2021 bookings yet, but I should be very surprised if I don't get booked in somewhere - CAMC or elsewhere. I'll just be flexible - but after the last few years, I'll be booking full serviced pitches. I think the problem this year is that no-one really knows what the situation is going to be like next week, let alone this coming summer! Perhaps this thread will give me the incentive kick to go and have a look! 😃

I think there will be a lot more folks staying in UK (☹️) rather than venturing overseas, certainly for earliest six months of year. That means even some of our normally quiet escape zones will be rammed with folks unfortunately. Never seen Northumberland like it was last September, we took to the hills and Moors to get away from the crowds on the Coast☹️

That will most likely be us next year, I can't see us doing our usual late April to July 'overthere' unless things progress rapidly. We are already talking on a few UK bookings for that period (away from the coast) and interested in sites within canal towpaths, but things might change

Still lots to see and enjoy M, we are never bored wherever we go😁👍

I have only stayed on them when travelling onwards the next day but yes they are full of charm, my favourite is the one at Warwick parked right on the barrier to the racecourse.

Only ever stopped at one racecourse site..... some years ago at Uttoxeter, when we went with friends. I have popped into a few, just to visit. Uttoxeter was fine, but a bit restrictive.... you could only enter andxkeave the site at certain times when races were in....

It’s only a few days per year though DSB😁 We really love Exeter, great walking and cycling close by, easy access to lots of places. Warwick is another favourite, stayed there a few times. Fakenham is nice as well. Gentle stroll into town, easy access all over North Norfolk. We re discovered Hexham Racecourse this year (no longer Club). Very scenic location, but not like Club Site at all. Good facilities though, and a good price.
