Hair dryer and straighteners

Can anyone recommend a good hair dryer and straighteners.for the wife of coarse 😃

    There are three appliances that course more electrical trips in LVs and  site EHU s

    1 Toasters

    2 Hairdriers

    3 Hair curlers

    Take with you the ones she uses at home. Just make sure you don't trip the EHU by using site to power your heating etc at the same time. 

    I've got a feeling that there are gas powered heating tongs - might be worth looking at.

    Having bought presents for my wife and three daughters down the years, I've found buying anything like this for a person of the contradictory gender, as Basil would say, or giving anything other than money, from a male/dad/parent/older/husband point of view is a minefield and I've learnt from painful experience not to do it.

    Even the brand name matters!

    I really suggest you ask whoever it is you are buying for and do the male/dad/parent/older/husband thing and just supply the money.

    Likewise with two daughters at the same time using such items (not the toaster mind you) I've never had any trip problems, just turn off the electric heating while they do.

    It is not an overload that causes the trips it tends to be earth faults surprised

    At home or touring?

    Touring, Boots do a compact but powerful travel hairdryer. I have had one for years, never tripped a bollard, even on 3amp CLs. You just simply turn off everything else on such a low amp pitch. Only £12-15.

    You can get gas canister tongs, again great for touring. Cheap, canister lasts for ages. Not sure if company, Babyliss, do gas straighteners.

    Home? If it’s brand name over performance, then look no further than Dyson.

    Personally, I think Dyson are over rated and way too expensive. But then my Diva days are just something I chuckle about now😂

    The gas ones used to be made by Braun. 

    From memory, when I was in the electrical trade, tongs and hot brushes were not as powerful (consumption wise) as hair dryers. The OP doesn't say where they will be used, in the UK or Europe. If only in the UK and with a 16 amp supply I don't think any products would be an issue. Having said that all appliances are marked with their amp's. 

    The best bet is to get yourself to a good electrical store and let the staff advise as they will be up to date with the latest trends.

    As already said above, from a woman's point of view, I'd really rather choose my own as I need to know that the appliance is 'comfortable' in my hand and not too heavy for example.

    Give her the dosh along with a small token gift so she's got something to unwrap.  smile

    And don't buy her a low voltage caravan hairdryer, they're useless!

    Still got my Braun tongs DK......bit hit and miss nowadays, but they are around 25 years old. They get too hot as well, newer Babyliss are kinder.

    Agree re low wattage, useless. The Boots hairdryer I mentioned is simply lightweight rather than low watt. Used to have a folding handle but don’t think so now. 

    Avid touring females, on the road for months rather than weeks?   A good short haircut is priceless......I was clipped for travel a couple of years ago. Works if you have open top cars as well.....🤣
