Yes but then second comes the choice of site.

And certainly for me that would depend on the standard of the site, not that it was acceptable in the manner I use the word as above.

To do what you are doing, dividing your subscription by only the nights used is just not logical and doesn't make sense - IMHO of course. You pay £54 whether you use any nights or not.

Just had one night away? Your CL cost is £13.45 + £54/1 = £67.45, would one really think that way?

It makes sense to me when comparing the cost of Club nights with commercial offerings. If I was only staying 1 niight on a Club site the membership would certainly not be worthwhile.

Well you should look at how much your membership is saving then?

But really if you're happy analysing each trip away to the last penny like you do, carry on, who am I to say otherwise but for me life is too short to worry about such things.

I choose a location and site and just enjoy.

The standard, ambience of a site, only concerns me for longer stays.

Agreed but your whole hypothesis is based around the choice between two, or more, sites. Therefore, those sites both need to be in the location of choice for your 'acceptable' vs £30 choice to come into play.

Obviously, if only one of them is in the desired location, the other won't come into the equation.

Perfectly happy when spreadsheets make it so easy to keep records and do all the work otherwise probably not.

How much of the club subscription do you count against pitch  prices when the monthly magazine is includedsurprised

Nearly all our stays on sites are 5 nights and move. As far as choice of site goes you makes your choice, pay your money.

Well, for me the club magazine arrived today and, as usual, I cut address off and recycled between the gate and entering the back door and so that holds no value for me. More convenient with the paper envelope though.

That is down to each indivdual as to how much value they place on any of the Clubs' services.

+1, & I agree with you. I wouldn’t pay £30, as our erstwhile friend BB used to say-‘I’d be on full fat sites rather than pay that’👍🏻

Of course if a CL owner installs more facilities, the fees are likely to rise.  I take no issue with that.  We tend not to use Club sites for two main reasons: 1) too large and, perhaps more importantly, 2) we pay a lot for facilities we dont use.

So I would much rather have a CL with some form of hardstandings, than one with a loo & showers - which we wouldnt use.  Individual pitch taps are nice!  Like an EHU as well.

For outfit plus two I think it is now difficult to get a club site for £17, even in off peak winter.  BH seems to charge the same year round, so will be close to half the cost of many club sites at peak and considerably less at other times. For what is on offer the price is good value in my opinion.

If that is what you do with it there is no logic in you receiving it in the first place. Would it not be more sensible for all concerned, and the environment, for you to ask the Club not to send it to you in the first place?

Growing trees is beneficial. Energy production is supposedly becoming greener and publishing unwanted magazines produces employment which is likely to become in short supply

R2B wrote "CY, I see that as ‘expecting a service to be sold at cost price’ "

You obviously skipped the bit where I wrote "the CL owner should get a reasonable return"

What research do you do? I have looked at the pictures of some CLs online and they look like heaven on earth, when you get to there it is a dump, good camera work. Also I have read reviews and the cl will have the most fantastic reviews, these when I have tried the site I totally disagree with them.

Recently I tried a CL at Kendal it had really bad reviews, I loved the place, fantastic view hard standing fully serviced and all for £15 per night.

Whatever I can. Look on revue sites sometimes, look on Google Earth, Look on Google Maps. Most of the ones that I use have their own images also and often maps and also I read the bumph. The same sorts of thing that I would do for any private site.

I didn’t skip it at all CY, after reading IK’s-

‘£17 per night including EHU. No charge to use our Wi-Fi. Grassed hardstandings.’

i thought you must be joking because I don’t see Birch Hill Farm CL @£17 getting anywhere near club prices at all🤷🏻‍♂️

Research - I check out Google Earth and the aerial views. I've often found things like the factory next door that nobody mentioned.

Would that be Mosergh Farm, Dave?

I didn't realise that Grate Farm has H/ S as it was only a grass field the coast time we visited, many years ago. Have just noticed that the reviews are 5 years old, and a lot can happen in that time!!

They have moved the Cl into the next field further from the farmhouse. Nice people. Also you can walk across the field using the public footpath to the garage, which has a shop selling papers and groceries.

Certainly on the list for a revisit, perhaps even this month. I wouldn't be bothering with the walk over fields in the current conditions, but could well use the lane over towards Brigsteer to take the dog.
