I am sure at least one insurance company gives premium reduction if you fit one of their black boxes which records all sorts of info that is fed back to them

I doubt that this is a solely a British issue, and that other countries too are committed for reducing the use of fossil fuels and so are thinking along similar lines. In countries such as France the infrastructure required will be very much greater than in our small island, so those that think that they can tour over there without the problems that could well be faced over here are living in dreamland.

Yes there will be plenty of €€€€€€€'s going in there. If they leave the UK and join the EU that will be their currency. They might not want that as they want independance,

Along the lines of Dascams & Satnavs, it’s certainly well tried & tested technology👍🏻

if you have a 'smart' phone, then you can already be tracked everywhere you go ..... Google maps sends me a message each month of where I've been!

Timeline is optional and mine is turned off. I know where I have been so why do I need to be reminded by Google, and why should I share it with Google and all and sundry.

I have been messaged that '*****' is in Florida on holiday and at 'Harry's restaurant' eating a triple cow burger, I knew my daughter was holidaying but not particularly interested in her every movement.

... Timeline is optional and mine is turned off

and you don't think that the powers that be can trace your whereabouts anyway? Watch any police investigation type programme on the telly & they use triangulation of which phone masts can or have seen your phone to find out where you were/are

And you being informed of your daughter eating at Harry's bar is probably more to do with FaceAche .... I don't get messages of who is eating where & my Timeline is on

As we explained before, JV, that alert was because someone else your daughter was in contact with had tested positive. The app does not know who is related to who as it is all anonymous. It works on personal contact, not family relationships 🙂.

I trust your daughter took note and went into isolation just as Boris has.

and what makes you think that I don't know that? the Police can triangulate my position whenever they feel the need, common knowledge really. As I said, 'my timeline is switched OFF', Google and anyone else who has an objection to that can go and do one.

Faceache cannot give a precise location unless Googles location service is turned on, so Harrys bar would not have accompanied the message.

surprised I had no idea it was that accurate.  Some things should stay between you and your choice of plumbing.

I hope the people in charge of the track and trace system are not not related to the fools that are in charge of the charging infastructure.I bet it will be some Dame somebody or other related to some pr  or well connected old boys network ripping the country off left right and centre.Dame is right as is a complete pantomime.

    The future is the present.

I bought a caravan when I was 27 years old because it was better than the terraced boarding houses on the east coast with strict landladies where I had spent childhood holidays. A caravan was my best alternative then.

Now my oldest grandson is approaching 27 years old and he sees all sorts of opportunities ahead. A caravan is not his best alternative now.

For him and his contemporaries the future of this Club is utterly immaterial.

But, comparisons with our own families doesn't provide the best statistics. There are, reportedly, 550,000 touring caravans in the UK and about 20 million people between the age of 25 and 45 years old which is probably the age group from which future caravanners/motorhomers  will come from. Therefore it only takes a very small percentage of that population group to become caravanners to maintain current numbers. Neither of my two boys show any interest in owning a touring caravan although I am sure they would jump at the chance of borrowing my motorhome if I were to let them!!!

I see relatively few tenters on most C&CC sites when compared to Caravans and campers etc
