Cayton Village Site, the future?

Yes, I imagine sites with restaurants do command higher fees but I am not sure that is unreasonable. There certainly seems a demand for better facilities. Just look at CL's with electrics, hardstanding and toilet/showers some charging £25 a night which to me makes a Club site with serviced pitches and a restaurant look good value!!!
Not sure I agree that they are pricey, it seems to me that are on a par with the pubs I have been to. For us it would probably be a once during the stay meal which adds to the holiday and it also has the advantage that you don't have to go off site.

I think there are only three pools now on cc sites Hillhead ,Looe and Seacroft ,when the club bought Graffam Water site they also had one but now closed ,and those sites that have pools also now have to have "lifeguards" (not volunteers) on duty when pools are open for use,
Looe does not have a restaurant
Some (other than site managers) staff at sites that have restaurants also have club accommodation

I remember it well. When we first went there it was part of a chain and then went to a private owner. The trouble with that pub was that perhaps it was just busy at weekends but not during the week? It's a bit in the middle of nowhere so clearly custom from Morn HIll was not enough to keep it going. I think the Club are still trying to buy the half of the site they don't own from Winchester Council, this is, as I understand it, that the site has never been updated?

I am sure there must be an element of that in the pricing but as with all things Club pricing never that clear. A few examples per night for peak season for two adults:-
Seacroft £40.60
Bridlington £37.50
Cayton Village £39.10
So Seacroft, with a restaurant and swimming pool is £1.50 a night more expensive than Cayton village, it's hardly a massive premium? For those members with children whose main holiday is two weeks on a Club site in the summer paying a little extra to have both a swimming pool and a restaurant could be seen as well worth it?

This summer, during Covid when the pool at Seacroft (and restaurant) were closed the price was reduced by £5 per pitch before the 12.5% reduction due to vat being reduced.
When I visited seacroft in spring bank holiday a few years ago it was expensive due to facilities that were of no use to me (but I knew that). Distinct lack of hard standing and not that many using the pool as I passed despite good weather.
I am sure that there is a large element of subsidising both restaurant and pools on sites.

Peak season for two at Hillhead is £47.30, free use of seasonal heated pool, restaurant, bar, take away and free entertainment, shop. Out of season access to the restuarant is greatly reduced, often Fri-Sat etc. so it's not open when numbers are low.

£5 seems like a good deal to me, pay £4 for my local council swimming pool.
Site i was on in September had heated indoor pool, sauna, jaccuzi, used it every day, return to site 1700 - 1800 spend 1 hour in pool fantastic worth every bit of £5. I guess when you book a site you know what facilities are available and if you feel the extra cost is not worth it to you, then dont book, simple.

Not really the case for us and many others Rufs as price is not the primary reason for choosing a site; it is location. Through Spring, Summer and Early Autumn we visit 21 to 22 sites. If one or two are a bit expensive then it makes little difference overall..

Regardless of the reduction the Club made for non use of pool and restaurant during COVID Cayton Village is normally only £1.50 a night cheaper than Seacroft. Given I feel they have about the same attraction. (near the sea, good transport links etc) I accept that Seacroft ( apart from the new section of serviced pitches) might not be up to the standard of either Bridlington or Cayton, since it's refurbishment but I wonder how many worry about that? A swimming pool is of no use to me but I quite like the idea as it has a wider attraction, especially for members with children. I still think having a restaurant on site is an added bonus.

David..whilst you quote Seacroft (with pool and restaurant) is £1.50 more expensive than Bridlington and Cayton ....the actual premium is £5 per night across the pitch fees. I was pleasantly surprised in August earlier this year when I was rebated an extra £35 in addition to the 12.5% VAT reduction....plus the 20% I was already achieving via the vouchers.....there was also the eat out for a tenner offer at the time so all this made me a very happy Yorkshireman...

We stayed at West Runton in October (cottage). I did walk footpaths into Incleborough Fields Site, and we drove past entrance for Cromer Site. Of the two, IF we considered nicer location. Short stroll into village with eateries, great camping shop, and station for getting around, plus on bus routes. Cromer is out amidst other Caravan Parks, a longer walk into Cromer itself and station, but on same bus route. Just our view of course. Cromer is open all year, IF isn’t. Not sure of price differential.

This is weird.
I was open in the thread called "The future" on Club Membership. I know this for certain as I had to read the last couple of days worth of posts, the last being about Late Night Arrivals etc. I then put a post up and it delivered it to this post which also contains "the future" in its title. I've not opened this thread at all today. I hope a moderator is looking in and they might want to report it as a malfunction.
I've had a couple of malfunctions since logging on about 30 minutes ago. I'll go on the relevant thread to explain.
Just thought some members may have seen my post that I have just Deleted User and wondered why it had disappeared. I'll repost it in the other future thread.
Moderator Edit:
As requested, your post has been 'reported'.

We stopped at IF last year (short notice, Seacroft was full) and would do again. Really liked the IF site, although you had to watch the golf balls on entry / exit, would make a nasty dent. Caught the bus into Cromer one day and walked back. The one draw back is that most pitches slope, requiring the van at the top of the ramps we had. Having got it positioned we decided not to take it off site to visit the nearby NT property. As Seacroft has service pitches, I assume those are level.

Never stayed at Seacroft, and only once at IF, a long time ago. We tend to stay further West, on nice CLs. We have used Fakenham Racecourse Site as well a few times. That coast is really lovely, one of our favourite areas.

Well, our beloved pass time is now very much up in the air don't you think given the announcement of the demise of new ICE vehicles just around the corner. The whole concept of touring will now be in question and with it pricing too, pricing for what? We live in interesting times to quote that age old saying.

It's not the production of all ICE vehicles that will cease in 2030, as some hybrids will still be allowed to be produced. There'll still be pumps at fuel stations for a long while yet IMO, well, at least until I'm no longer able to tow my van in safety.
