Raleigh cycling stories
Have you got an e-bike or considered an e-bike? As you probably know we have a great member offer with Raleigh and it would be wonderful to hear if any members have used the offer and how you are getting on with your e-bike?
Also in case you missed it, we had a fantastic chat with Raleigh about e-bikes and how e-bikes work, which you can watch on the Club's YouTube channel:

I bought an folding electric bike through my cycle to work scheme via my employer.
Rather than buy a bike from a bike shop, it came from a marine chandler. Developed for the motor yacht market. Very suitable to Motorhome use especially as it folds and comes with a bag it can go in the garage on board without need for frames to hold it down.
Its a Seago. I pay £69.15 each month for 10 months from my salary.
I note since lockdown availability is limited and the price has doubled in some outlets.
I used it to lose weight and build my core prior to recent surgery. Unable to use it till into the new year.
Super bit of kit at a sensible price and it comes with led lights and storage rack on the back. It arrived the day I was sent to work from home under lockdown 1, so haven't used it for the commute to work, yet.
it replaces my 1990 Montague Bi-fold mountain bike by Raleigh that I used to carry on board planes.
Some cycling puritans say it is heavier than a non electric bike, but it has the motor to overcome any perceived issues of weight.

We've got a couple of Carrera Cross City folders which we bought s/hand complete with stowage bags. Now that we've swapped to the Carthago, which came with a couple of bike racks in the garage, I can fit them in there without folding them. We only potter about with them and haven't done any serious distances. OH is very averse to road use and off road complains about the assault on her nether regions despite me having fitted a gel saddle for her.

We got ourselves an e-bike each from AS Bikes in June. They have 26" wheels and are folding bikes too. Since then we've used them a lot, either cycling from home, or putting them in the car and going a little further afield. Best thing we bought for a while, not being as young as we once were, we couldn't have cycled the miles we have done. It's ok on the flat, but there are quite a few hilly bits where we live, so the pedal assist comes in very handy there!

Hi InaD. Thinking of buying a couple of folding E bikes and the 26 inch wheel models are appealing. How reliable have they been and if you have had problems how did you find AS Bikes after sales service. Would appreciate your comments thanks.

Hi IanHNW
We have been very pleased with the bikes. We've had them since June, and used them quite a lot since then. They also do a 20" version, but we wanted the 26" version. They were supplied with a bag each, so they can be wrapped safely when folded. We went to Lincolnshire for a fortnight in September, our only trip with the caravan since lockdown, and took them with us. Used them every day, as the weather was really good. Initially we got just one of the bikes with a Dutch type handlebar, which we had requested. On trying his bike my OH said he'd also prefer a Dutch style handlebar; we rang them up, explained what we wanted, and they sent one, free of charge, and no postage costs either.
They are extremely helpful people to deal with, Pete is the main man, and his daughter and son-in-law are also in the business with him. They're all really easy to deal with and very helpful if you have any queries.
Based on our experience, I have no hesitation in recommending them.
