Motorhome and dog advice
Hello, I think this is the right place to ask this but if it's not my apologies.
We bought our first motorhome in August and have recently adopted a dog with plans to go traveling together but we could use some advice on securing the dog so he's safe and comfortable.
Our Motorhome is from 1998 and is a two berth Compass calypso VW, it has no seatbelts in the back so a selt belt harness like we have in the car is out unless it's possible to install a seatbelt but then what happens when it comes to going to bed??
So next option is a crate but then we wander into the realms of which one is best and safest, which one will be a good size for the dog while also fit in-between the seats followed swiftly by how do we secure said crate??
We also at present have a cool box in the van because the built in fridge needs looking at ... It doesn't seem to work and is sooooo smelly!!! There was loads of mold around the door so we removed the door, cleaned it and refitted but still the stench remains.
The Motorhome has been great for teaching us bout how to fix little issues that arose but I think we have reached the 'we need a professional' stage of fixes.
So this post/discussion has a few points, firstly and the main reason for starting this is to ask for tips and advice bout traveling with a dog and how to secure him.
Secondly does anyone know of anywhere in North Yorkshire or nearby that can look at the list of habitation issues and help us fix or replace them please?
Thank you in advance

As this post isn't anything to do with caravans, it's been moved but because it covers a couple of different issues, the Motorhome Section seems the most appropriate place.

I can’t help with a choice of dog crate but you might find info in one or other of the pet related threads/section.

Depending on the size of dog you could fix an extra seat belt buckle to a secure spot and use one of the various dog seat belt harnesses that clip into the buckle. When not in use it shouldn't impede anything in the van.
We have a very small dog, the weight and size of the dog would need to be considered.
Crates are ok as long as they're securely anchored, the dog likes it and you know where you'll put it when it's not in use.
Can't help with the fridge problem but a bicarb solution might neutralise any smells?
