In Winter as well with a reduced number of sites open. How mean spirited.

I’m glad I’m not alone in viewing it that way.

I trust the club will make a further extension if we experience lockdowns next year.

Perhaps they are trying to out do the commercial airlines /travel companies that give vouchers rather than give value?

Only 3 months extension - you have to be joking!

Personally I think the 'club' is being very generous in extending the expiry date by a further three months....Given an average site fee (Unit +2) of £25 pn....£2400 of site vouchers give you 24 weeks (96 nights) spent on our clubs network....albeit not affiliated sites ...who by the way are not passing on the VAT reduction, as does the 'club'..

From July 4 2020 to end of March 2022 gives a validity of 21 months...I for one will have used mine well within that time frame...unless of course we are locked down again either nationally or locally via the tier system...in which case I am sure the 'club' will extend the expiry date further ....

GTP, I think that you do many AS sites a disservice.

I have certainly had a VAT discount at affiliated sites and other commercial sites.

I wonder if the CMC decision to extend validity of the site vouchers is because of a concern that the early months of 2021 could still be problematic? They no doubt  feel the extra period would help if that were be the case. If next year things return to near normal would there be no need to extend any longer but heaven forbid things are still bad into next year the Club can always extend again if that was felt to be appropriate.

'Spanish flu' was around for a couple of years and in 4 waves & I can't see C-19 being much different.

If they need to extend the expiry date of the site vouchers again next year because of lockdowns, it may well be the case that they will also need to issue further vouchers to assist cash flow. If that is the case, lets hope that they will return to issuing the vouchers without an expiry date, then there would be no problem of having to extend any dates.

I gladly and apologetically stand corrected to those that do...and re-phrase my comment to 'some' are not passing on the VAT reduction. I have only interacted with three AS sites this year, all of which did not pass on the VAT reduction when booked on line. I did query one site re the VAT reduction which brought the response that they looked upon the retention of the VAT as an act of  'Survival'...

Out of interest , re my comments, I have looked at a further 4 AS sites on line and found that they too do not reduce the VAT when booking. On querying one...again out of interest, the reply was that the prices were set many months ago pre Corvid. (They did offer me a £1 pn discount for being a club member)

Aside...two of the three bookings I made with the Affiliated Sites are still active, One postponed until next year sometime, a credit note for the deposit issued via email,..the other booked for Christmas with the proviso I can postpone to a future date...

I just wished I had vouchers left to use up until next March...   we managed to get though ours by the end of August....  I'd be happy if the Club decided to re-introduce the offer again next year.  I'd certainly be up for buying more....

I was in the first issue of vouchers which I believe were only valid till the end of this year. We have managed to use the majority of them but still have £20 left over. Due to the current lockdown and more possible after Christmas and our ability to getaway anytime soon I was wondering if. The above offer of extending the vouchers till 2022 applied to us as well?

If your vouchers bear no expiry date, as per the early ones, then they have no expiry date.

If they show an expiry date of 31.12.21, it’s been extended to 31.3.22.

No, it’s extended from Dec 2021 to March 2022 - unless they show no expiry date at all in which case they are open ended.

i was fortunate enough to be able to buy some vouchers.  I have no doubt at all I will have used them all way before the March 2022 deadline.  Makes me think why did people bother to buy them if they didn't think they would use them over such a long period.  This year has changed so much but people still seem to expect the club to be mind readers and know what the future will bring!  Fingers crossed we will be able to get out again soon but more importantly we will be able to do so safely

wouldn't it be easy to remove the expiry dates for all, why on earth do they need to have expiry dates on them after all if i can stand outside a club office and sell them on to new arrivals why cannot they just simply allow me to use them when i can, after all the club already has my money.

Just keeping my fingers crossed that one of our kids might buy us some vouchers for Christmas... 😃😃.   I've never had difficulty in using CAMC vouchers.  👍👍

With hightsight,It goes to show what a good offer these site vouchers gave, coupled with the VAT reduction.I only purchased enough vouchers for my planned journeys. I am sure my vouchers had an expiry date of December 2020,but I am ok to be proved wrong.

When you look at the Camping and Caravaning Club's membership extension of three months, mine went from November of 2020 until February of next year, and at least a month (probably longer after the next Covid announcement on the 16th Dec) we have been in tier 3.Again not their fault, and health of family is more important at this time.

But if the Club do do another offer.....

According to the Club website the date has been extended to Dec 2022.

    Hope this is right.

All orders up to and including 28 April 2020 received vouchers with no expiry date. All orders from 29 April 2020 onwards will receive vouchers valid until 31 December 2022, giving you 18 months to enable you to use the vouchers.
