Lockdown Tewkesbury Abbey Site
Having booked a week at Tewkesbury Abbey Site from Saturday to Saturday we were hit by the bombshell on the Monday that the England was having yet another lockdown. We were quickly rung by the Wardens telling us we have to get off site by Wednesday morning. That evening a statement was made by the Government saying that if you’re on holiday (domestic) then you can remain on holiday until it’s end. Why then are we being kicked off when we don’t wish to leave. This info from the Government has been all over the news yet when I rang the Caravan Club to discuss they knew little of it. We spend around 70 nights a year in our caravan on club sites and now feel the Club has no care for it’s members. Sadly this whole episode has tainted my view of this club.

I suppose it depends on when the club wants to close the site. Clearly it has to for new arrivals from Wednesday. If it left it open for folk to finish their holiday it might mean keeping up open for a very small number, which wouldn't be cost effective.

My only surprise is that you were surprised.
I'm guessing that sites are being forced to close but, if I'm wrong, I consider the club to be doing the right thing and to be taking care of its members in a proactive way.
Tbh, I think your complaint is out of order in the circumstances.

Unfortunately I’m not surprised as the Country is extremely Lilly livered at the moment. At the moment the site is not being forced to close. The government have not made a final decision yet but sadly, as is the want these days, the UK’s backbone has been removed.
And I wasn’t complaining, I was just asking the Club to adhere to Government directives or I am I out of order for doing that also? 😕

That evening a statement was made by the Government saying that if you’re on holiday (domestic) then you can remain on holiday until it’s end.
I read that as in the context of those holidaying abroad, not on an English caravan site which are forced to close following approval, as in this Club, the other Club and hotels unless work, care etc exempts you.

Hmm...... it’s the personal gratification v community good argument again🤔
You could of course opt to teach the Club a damn good lesson, and take your custom to another none Lily liveried, not lacking backbone Site?
Good luck finding one open😉

Inbound international travel will continue to be governed by the travel corridor approach, and those currently on a domestic holiday will be allowed to finish their holidays, but are still subject to the requirements in England not to go out without a reasonable excuse. The above us from the .Gov website.
It’s quite clear that should you be on holiday in the UK, other restrictions permitting, you can remain on holiday should you wish but must comply with all other restrictions.5 -
However, A&J, much of the hospitality industry is forced to close and, knowing this club, sites would not be shut unless made to do so. As was said earlier, to keep sites open for a handful of people to finish their holiday would be uneconomic and we all pay for that.
"A full list of the business closures will be published and set out in law."

From the Club's Website:-
Following the UK Government announcement which will place the whole of England into a countrywide lockdown, it is likely that the Club will have to temporarily close its network of campsites in England from 6pm on Wednesday 4 November until the Government advises that we are able to reopen them (currently forecast for the beginning of December). The temporary closure also applies to our Certificated Locations and Affiliated Sites.
While the restrictions are subject to final confirmation from the UK Parliament on Wednesday 4 November, we have taken the decision to cancel all member bookings on campsites in England from Thursday 5 November to Wednesday 2 December 2020. We would very much appreciate your help and support and would be grateful if you could cancel your individual bookings online through our website or App.
Members currently on our Sites network in England
Members currently on our Club campsites in England with a booking further than Wednesday 4 November will be asked to curtail their stay and return home.
Storage sites and Seasonal pitches in England
Members will be contacted individually to inform them of the current situation.
