Its really sad news this evening that we as a country are to go back in to a one month lockdown. Not that I agree or disagree with the decision but we were wondering if the CAMC sites would be closing like we did back in March. I know a lot will depend on us being allowed to travel between regions etc, I guess it may be a case of watch this space. Keep safe out there Guys 👍

Moderator Edit:

None of us yet know what's going to happen regarding site closures until the club releases a statement.  However, we already have a thread "Latest Government information and Club Sites", which I've now made 'sticky', and that's where I'd expect Rowena to post any new information so I'm locking this one to avoid duplication.

There’s no point in sites staying open really.

"Overnight stays and holidays away from primary residences will not be allowed- including holidays in the UK and abroad. This includes staying in a second home, if you own one, or staying with anyone you do not live with or are in a support bubble with. There are specific exceptions, for example if you need to stay away from home (including in a second home) for work purposes."

As you say Tinwheeler it's pretty clear really, we had a trip booked for later in November so it may be just a case of pushing it on a little. Main thing is we all keep safe and well. We are both retired so in a way we are so lucky, really feel for those with jobs, mortgages and children. So sad 😢

Sadly, I think there will be a lot of " Making Hay " over the next few days and nights no matter who else will or may suffer.

Shame the Lock could not be closed Immediately,  so very sad cry

Had there been a weekend in between I think it might have caused a few problems...there's not much going on in the hay strewn streets of Somerset on a wet Monday night....wink

Gives people a chance to get organised?

Not quite as bad as the last lockdown, but still severe enough to do more harm than good. We will have to wait and see how long it lasts and if it works. I very much doubt it will.

Apart from the fact it has to go before parliament (they don't work weekends it seems, even in a Pandemic) Strange, I seem to remember getting hauled into work when things went wrong on a Saturday.🤔

I suppose it is reasonable to give businesses some time to react. Our son will have to reorganise staff and contact customers. In the case of CC sites, I assume some will stay open for long termers. So those will need sorting and members affected will have to move onto them. Unfortunately, as you say some will use it as an excuse for a party.☹️

I went into hibernation a week ago. Drained down the mototorhome and jacked it up. It will stay like that until freedom returns. Even the trips before lock down felt constrained and not really as enjoyable as normal times and I found myself questioning, was it worth it?

I think you will find that it's not just a matter of lives v the economy, it is lives v lives and the economy.

The PM was castigate for not taking swift action in March and then having acted he was accused of ignoring parliament in doing so.  Now he is acting, some say late again, but taking it to the house for ratification before Thursday and again some suggest he is getting it wrong by doing so.  Too late, too early, not enough consultation, too much consultation / procrastination.  There certainly seems to be many wrong ways, is there a right way?  Answers on a postcard C/O Barnard Castle GPO.

I agree. The problem is lockdowns cost lives as well. All the excess deaths are not just down to the virus.

I don't think it 'to little' David. Until I know more detail it may be slightly too much. It depends on the effects on small businesses. I hope that it does not effect small builders, kitchen fitters, etc and their suppliers to the extent of the last one.

I do think it far later than it should have been though. It should have happened 2 months ago IMO

There can be only one way. Close all UK sites, before Thursday. With Wales changing lockdown a week tomorrow, Scotland having different rules, some will no doubt try to find ways round any regulation. It has to be easy to police/enforce so any  anomaly needs to be cut off. Simples really.

That is certainly a problem but I think it will be far worse when thousands of student decamp from uni for Christmas and bring the virus home.  Whether or not the NHS will be able to cope in mid to late January when the wave hits remains to be seen.

I suppose that, in many regards, we went into hibernation back in February. I still intended to rent a dethatched 4 bedroom house to take daughter and grandsons away on March the third for a week but would have been keeping well away from other folk.

As far as other holidays were concerned we decided that the time was better spent at home with outstanding jobs outside. We have 15 days booked at the CMC Southport site from mid December but, in reality, I doubt that we shall go.

I getting the impression that children as opposed to young adults are less likely to spread the virus but unis do appear to be full on breeding grounds and students seem well able to shed and spread CV19.

It does cost lives too I agree👍🏻. It’s a balancing act with lives, the few for the many-not great for sure but until we have an alternative magic bullet it is what it is🤷🏻‍♂️☹️
