Would it have given the ZOOM AGM  more prominence if this thread became a "sticky?"

    Hi everyone,

Just to clarify, the AGM is being run as a Zoom Webinar. This means that you will be able to watch the proceedings but not participate. The purpose of this is for ease of running the virtual proceedings with potentially high numbers of attendees.

With regard to questions, the reference on the registration email is only for questions about the event itself and not for the submission of AGM questions which can only be submitted using Slido within the given timeframe. I hope this helps.

Brue, I will make this a sticky now. smile

Bumping this forward, a few more questions but not many, is there a deadline?

5.00 pm today is the deadline. 32 questions so far but quite a few likes, although worryingly the idea of deposits seems popular!!!! It will be interesting to see how many of them make it to the actual AGM. I think a few could be amalgamated as they raise similar topics.

With the "duplicate post syndrome" you have encounted ,it is possibly one of the many problems with this site where it takes so long for a post to appear ,one thinks it has not "registered?" so a second attempt is made wink

it's a miserable wet day, I've just finished a book, so maybe I'll log on. But perhaps there'll be a good film on television!

What a waste of time. No audience participation. Just an opportunity for them to tell us how well they have done without anyone challenging them. Typical club attitude, just do not care about members and do not want to hear from them.

On the whole I thought it very well done and I hope even if there can be a live audience next year the Club will continue to broadcast it via the internet. Difficult to remember every statistic but 2019 was a better year for the Club.

Looks like the booking system could be in for some major changes over the next 18 months if all goes well, a hint of deposits to come and the ability to book hard standings?

I thought the problems with the web site were rather fobbed off and I didn't get my question answered just yet!.

I take a totally different view. We knew the format before it happened and I would imagine it could have been somewhat chaotic had there been audience participation. Especially as many of us are completely new to using Zoom and that lack of knowledge could have contributed to a disjointed meeting as some struggled with the technology?

Whilst only 10 questions were answered during the AGM we have been promised that the answers to the remaining questions will given on the website. This is a considerable improvement on past AGM's when only two or three questions have been dealt with. I am not say we got complete answers and some required a bit of reading between the lines.

I see they have booked Chester Racecourse for the 2021 AGM, personally I would much prefer it to remain online as I am unlikely to travel 160 miles for an hours meeting?

Quite a lot of Jam Tomorrow.

But, sitting by the fire in a comfy chair, and comfy headphones, it was an interesting hour.

And as it was a Webinar and not a "normal" Zoom, I didin't have to dress up.

Interesting, disappointed to see the general web site issues were batted away. Will the booking system ever get a re-think, not clear on that one either. I concur with most of the reactions on here. Pleased to have had the opportunity to see the AGM. smile

Tend to agree with Goldie's Jam Tomorrow comment but perhaps that is because the Club have no idea how the rest of 2020 will pan out and 2021 is even more uncertain in terms of planning?

I know it's easy to put two and two together to make five but I found some of the comments interesting in what they didn't say. We know there will be a new "booking engine" whatever that is in the next 12/18 months. It was pretty clear (in the absence of an outright denial) that it could cope with deposits. It seems that it will be able to cope with booking pitch type, something I, along with others, have argued for, for some time.

Why did they say the Cayton Bay site was complete? The reviews don't reflect this at all, a building site is often mentioned!?

This was the third zoom AGM I have attended recently and the other two were far more interesting, the Scottish Caravan Club and VanMaster association were both interactive and very well controlled.

Did not like Nick’s comments about how much they did for those on the Winter Sun rallies as they did nothing for me, even telling me everything in UK was shut when it wasn’t.

Their so called new foreign site booking system kicks me out every time as my van is 8.2 M long.

The financial comments about the overseas travel service indicated a lessening of success in that sector.

Even in 2019 the figures were not very good with revenues from Overseas travel down -12.5% and Red Pennant -18.5%. They seem to be blaming that on the Brexit effect. At a guess I would think that 2021 could also be problematic depending if and when, or if, people make decisions to travel abroad. There will also be the double whammy of rule changes depending on what rules we actually end up with? I appreciate there will be some stalwarts that will travel regardless but I wonder how representative they are of the general membership?
