Poor caravan shelving
Just took delivery of an Elddis Affinity 550, love the caravan except for the cupboard shelving is very poor, thin and will not stay in place during any journey, has anyone ideas for securing them?

What do you mean exactly, won’t stay in place? Are they collapsing every time out, bending, tilting? Seems a rubbish state of affairs if they aren’t fit for purpose.
Two options really.
Either sort them out yourself so that they do function, easy enough with some shelf supports, thicker ply, glue or screws......
Or back to dealer with all the faff and heartache that usually entails.

At least they have shelving supplied, with Coachman shelving is an accessory with the associated additional cost!!

Hi sorry re delay, the issue is that they are held in place with small clear plastic supports that donot hold them in place, particularly whilst travelling, the shelves are not thick enough to take any weight so as suggested completely replace shelf and supports only wondered how others had done it.

I suppose it depends on what you put in, how heavy. Make some new with stronger ply and better support lugs, or use no nails to glue wood battens under shelf, either yourself or have some made? You might be able to find an adjustable shelf on eBay that might work as an alternative? Or rethink what you store in that cupboard (sorry, no idea on size or location) and store things vertically rather than horizontally?
I wouldn’t be pleased with a new van with shelves that collapse😡
Hope you get it sorted. Is it from a local SY dealer?
edit what about something like this, cut to fit?

I would make a complaint to the dealer, take photos of the state of the shelves, before and after photos. It doesn't sound as though they are fit for purpose, let the dealer rectify the problem. Most van shelves should safely support a reasonable amount of weight except very heavy items which should be placed lower down in the van.

Looking at Coachman's lastest range under Optional Extras it states :- Shelf pack (3 shelves) including fixings - All ranges
See here https://www.coachman.co.uk/ranges/

We have the same van bought in 2014 and the shelves perform perfectly.
They are thin (12mm) however the front edge has a 25x12mm piece attached vertically to the front edge avoiding deflection tho we dont carry too much weight in the overhead cupboards when travelling.
The shelves are virtually full depth ans held in place by shelf supports which have a part that locate in a predrilled blind hole on the underside of the shelves.
