Attempted caravan theft
Had an attempted theft of our 3 month old caravan at the weekend. The repairers quoting fir the insurance are already saying they probably cannot source some parts due to backlog orders following Covid shutdowns in the UK or abroad.... (As an aside some dealers are laying off staff because they cannot parts for repairs and servicing or vans to sell).
The van is stored on a farm with about 15 other vans. Given the events i am assuming there must have been 4 people in 2 vehicles who forced another access into the storage area by moving trailers and farm machinery etc. Fortunately they were unable to remove (cut off) the Bulldog wheel clamp but broke in (forced the door, fortunately it still locks) to disable the alarm and find the tracker. Lots of damage to electrics. Not being able to cut through the wheel clamp they stole another van but vandalised the rear internal face of our van, hacked lumps out of it. The farm has 5 dogs (one is seriously vicious) dotted around who normally go ballistic so it is assumed they were drugged. The normal (Only) access is a twisty rough track going past the front door of the farm house and through a locked gate usually with a 4x4 or tractor blocking access. The day prior the farmer had heard the dog chorus and on investigating found someone wandering around who claimed to be offering services/looking for work as a mechanic. It is assumed he was casing the place. The van stolen had a tracker and was found about 20 miles away in a field.

Soul destroying to see such vandalism. Good luck in getting the damage sorted. Hope they don't come back for a second attempt.
