Truma Ultraflow Pump - Very Difficult To Remove
Our Caravan has a Truma Ultraflow water pump, like
this. It is a very tight fit into the
filter housing and is becoming nearly impossible to remove and a wouldn't be surprised if one day the housing breaks, such is the force that is required. I have had to replace the O rings as they occasionally get damaged when pushing it in and have tried
a little olive oil to ease the fitting and removing of the pump, but nothing seems to improve it, and I don't remember it being so difficult when the van was new. Has anyone else, with this same pump had difficulty ? Has anyone else found a way of making it
easier ?

Our pump is the same when it comes to disconnect it, it has now actually damage the socket side on the caravan due to the force applied.
I have found if the pump is not used it can be disconnected easily but if it pumps any water the seal is almost unbreakable.
Not sure what else to try now..?

This might be a bit of a daft question but are you pushing the release catch far enough to effect a release? You shouldn't need to force anything. A bit of a wriggle of the pump as you try to release the catch may allow it to become fully disengaged more easily.

All up for daft suggetions, it's really annoying. There isn't much space or extra clearance of the release catch but I'm pretty sure it was clear, as I mentioned that if I don't flow water through it it comes straight off. I released it so hard the other day the trigger is now in two pepeices.
The socket was already cracked and now the pump release is broken too I might try a Whale part, though I would like to understand just how it makes such a good deal, I'm pretty sure I could tow the caravan with the pump...

Why not replace it with the Whale High Flow with the Truma fitting? Easy to remove using the trigger, improved output, more flexible pipe and it has the clip on the top to secure the pump/hose when the aquaroll has been removed for filling. I've just bought another as a spare - £54 from our local dealer.
I replaced both our internal and external pumps with Whale High Flows as soon as we got the new van - a great improvement over the Truma.
