Knaresborough Club site directions
Hi all
We are planning on visiting the club site above shortly and was wondering what the best way to get there is. We will be travelling from the north down the A1 I have read the directions given by the club but on the map it seems there could be an easier way in by taking the previous junction. Just looking for thoughts and advice as we have never been to this site before.
Thanks in advance

The A6055 route in, junction before Knaresborough, is a good road, and if your outfit isn’t too big, and you are happy on slightly smaller roads, you should be fine. There are two caravan sites on there, so it is well used by touring outfits. It can be a bottle neck at the bottom of the town itself, so avoid a teatime arrival, whichever route in you use.
The A1 up there hasn’t been particularly busy the last few weeks, but if you want to have a plan B, just in case there are hold ups onA1 from Scotch Corner, you can use the old A1 from Catterick down to Dishforth, then it becomes another bit of the old A1 you wiggle onto further down. I will look up the road numbers for you and post again. They are usually very quite roads, odd bit of farm traffic, a few roundabouts, but we use regularly to have a break from motorway.

Plan B, if you encounter a problem on A1 is onto A6055 at Scotch Corner, down to junction 50 of A1, take A1 to junction 49, then off onto A168 at Dishforth junction, then pick up A6055 again down to Scotton and Site. But as I said earlier, A1 has been quite light for last few weeks up there, so hopefully you won’t need.
If you get the chance, Ripon Cathedral is superb, has “the Hand of God” in the quire. Have a lovely time😁
