Well, it’s too late to cancel now, BJ, unless you want a rap on the knuckles email so I guess you’re stuck with it irrespective of what folk say.😄

I went once several years ago and I’d say the reviews are accurate.👍🏻

Haven't been ourselves, but have you read the reviews on here?  There are some recent ones (Sept/Aug)

Couple of different sections there, plenty of trees for that bird to roost on, not too far from M6 and just a very few miles from the great Wen ( a k a  Carlisle ) area I have used in the past --  you should enjoy yourselves whatever fancies you have wink

Ooops, forgot to mention there is no toilet block, but doubtless you checked on that before booking laughing

I only bypass this site if I'm charging into centre of Scotland, when I use the one just off the M74 purely for the extra milesembarassed

The last time we stopped at that site was our last 4 nights of "freedom?"before we got married at Gretna Green in 1989 it was lovely then winkcool

including a low level fly past of two RAF harriers and two USAF "wart hogs"surprised

It’s our “go to” site for a weekend away - towed, setup and G&T poured within an hour. Our car knows it’s own way there.

Usually very peaceful, but maybe busier this year. All hard standing except some small weird shaped ones (maybe not in use now).

Undulating road on the final stretch from the M6. Quite open with grassy spots and trees in various stages of growth.

And we’ll be there on Friday for a couple of nights.

thanks for the replies.sounds just what we are looking for ,a bit of peace and some birdlife , not bothered about the facilities we use our own anyway .So fingers crossed the weather will be kind .

We like it there, it's in an old garden and feels quite different to some of the more "standard" sites. A short walk to a small woodland lake from the site, lots of lovely countryside and the river Eden nearby. smile

We like it and use it quite often, i.e. probably once every year, either going north or returning from Scotland. Should "wee Jimmy Crankie" impose a countrywide lockdown in the next 7 days we may well end up there, if there's room that is.

Great site but avoid the pitches in the lower corner that regularly flood - it mentions them on the site map. Also the phone signal is patchy. I found it slightly stronger towards the middle of the site.
