Cancel for another site

As we all play the late availability game, or some of us anyway, if you have something booked but the place you'd rather go comes free would you be hit with the 72 our window fee if you've moved to a different site?

I am assuming you would as I'm not sure they detect moves I am guessing they are all mutually exclusive of each other?

Thanks

Probably would be best to either ring the Club direct and ask them to make the change or the site you would prefer to go to. Logically it's six of one half a dozen of another, the Club gets the site whichever one  you go. That way might avoid the dreaded email!

We have done this in the past when my mum went into hospital and we needed to alter our itinerary at short notice. Although you get the black mark email, it says on it that it does not count if you book another site for the same period.  Trouble is in the current climate as you have to cancel before you can book the other site, you might find the place gone before you can book it. I would do as DK suggests as I am sure the club can avoid that possibility.

The fact you have to cancel first and something going is a good point :)

We were booked into Lower Wensleydale for a few days, but on rolling past Bolton Abbey, decided to stop there our first night. It was 4.30 pm. Wardens simply rang LW for us, took our first night off there and sorted a pitch out at BA for us. You seldom get much later change of mind than that, but it was penalty free and simple. In terms of Club Site flexibility, you won’t get better than CAMC to be honest. Talk to the Wardens direct if you can, they can bypass the automated booking system. Simple.

Yes I have done it several times in the last 10 years via the warden.

If doing it on the net yourself then use two windows on your internet page. One to reach point to make final click to cancel and one to final click to book that way you can cancel and rebook within about 3 seconds.

    Good point about the Wardens.

But yeah, this is really painful now I'm wanting to stay in one place Fri, Sat and Sun night. Normally, say if I went to the Peak District, I just accept I'll move around which makes it easier (Campervan so not that great a hassle).

The pain of wanting to just get the awning down and take root for a few days though :)

    Wish me luck.

The angst must be awful for you. We find coming to a decision eases the pain.......😉😁

A bit of hyperbole is fine.

It's more haunting around for anything currently takes a bit more effort than I'd like :)

Phone the Warden on the site you hope to go too and they will change over to their site for free.

Hi I’ve just been browsing a couple of sites for availability, the few I’ve looked at have most dates available for October. My local one is usually well booked up.  Now I’m wondering if it’s wise to go anywhere.
