Overall Weight of a caravan when being towed

We were the same with our Fiamma Zip, mainly we used just the side by the door, and latterly started leaving the other bits at home.
When the Fiamma roof gave up, the rest was still good so we thought about replacing the roof, but in the end went for a lightweight and much less expensive "arched" style canopy, which stops rain blowing in from the sides but is open at the front. Even that we only put up if staying at least 3 nights, or when we need the space to eat outside when daughter and grandson are with us.

One area of weight saving is not using the usual carpets throughout the caravan. Most caravans have both carpets and a wood effect floor. If you are struggling with excess weight you could discard the carpet in the kitchen area and if needed just keep the one in the lounge. We lifted ours out for cleaning and I was amazed at their weight.

It’s a bit of a faff, but in emergency, you might move the caravan battery into the car boot as it’s a small heavy item, it’s easy to unclamp the terminals.
Perhaps the same goes for the spare wheel as well if you have one on the van.
Not a lot of weight saved, but a lithium ion battery is about half the weight of a lead acid battery, although very pricey.
