Improving Club Discussion Forums
I posted recently:
"The forums are not as active as they might be. Yes you can pay £15 to join more active groups but wouldn't it be good if this forum, which we have paid for after all, could become a little more active and responsive by members using it more. (Or maybe I have found it too hard to find what I'm looking for!?)"
I wonder now if the forum can be improved to meet the need for a more vibrant/helpful facility.
For example:
1 I found it hard to locate what I'd written a week or so after initial posting.
2 I was not informed of any comments from others.
3 A regular update email of all or selected new posts would be really helpful.
PS I've changed my "silly" ascribed user name - I should have been prompted to change from the start.

The allocation of meaningless user names is a recent phenomenon. It would be useful if the club advised new members to change their names, although some seem to immediately be registered with the name of their choice 🤷🏻♂️. Not a single word of official explanation on this has been posted to the best of my knowledge😤
Anyway, we can now see who we're talking to so welcome, Muffinn.
Good advice from Brue on the other points.

I think there are a whole host of improvements required before we went down that route? Surely the whole point of this type of community is that members are engaged with it. If you wish to be semi remote from it the likelihood is that the sort of information you are requesting would in the main go unviewed and therefore would be a waste of resources. That also assumes that the information you request is actually available to be collated on the current system. All the information you want is already available but it does require some input from you to check.

Agree DK. I always thought the idea of a forum was to search out the topics of interest to you. Choosing to contribute is optional. 🤷♀️

I got such an email regularly from another forum but, as I look at that forum on an almost daily basis, it was pointless and went straight in the bin and I have unsubscribed. Such a mail is only of interest to occasional users and is essentially a marketing tool for forum operators who need to keep advertisers on board.

Helpful responses. Many of us aren't everyday users. a quick list of titles of new topics is quickly browsed through and ignored or otherwise is helpful to me. Having said that Latest Discussions sounds helpful...where is it? I can't see it. Thanks
