Vat confusion ????
Hi members..... currently at Chapel Lane site and charged and paid the full price upon arrival.
We have had 2 recent stays at sites where upon arrival we were pleased to be given the reduced vat fee rates....
We are on our way to a 2 week stay at a Devon site and have been told we must ask for the vat reduction information and reclaim it from the CMc..... We are confused by the differing practices we are encountering and ask if other members are similarly affected ?
Happy travels !

Is this a CAMC site G?
From my own experiences, and others on here, the reduction has been applied on all CAMC sites at the point of sale.
Other providers do not have to pass on the reduction.

Ditto, stayed on several club sites over the last few weeks, reduction applied as a matter of course. But not at an affiliated site, they were not passing on the reduction, explanation being that "We are a business", didn't have the energy to argue!

where does it say that in the OP?
We are on our way to a 2 week stay at a Devon site and have been told we must ask for the vat reduction information and reclaim it from the CMc...

Yes that part is obvious but I was referring to the site they are travelling to where:
We are on our way to a 2 week stay at a Devon site and have been told we must ask for the vat reduction information and reclaim it from the CMc..... We are confused by the differing practices we are encountering and ask if other members are similarly affected
which is why I quoted it again, I suspect this isn't a CAMC site for this reclaiming practice to occur.

Yes I see what you mean, well my experience is that you should get the reduction when you pay. There was a post from serving warden JK who said this is the process, hope so.

The OP would do better to phone CAMC after the weekend and ask for a resolution or go back to the office on site and ask for the correct amount of VAT to be deducted. If you're still on site as you state, you can sort this problem today?

as explained abovemy post refers to the last paragraph, which is why I re quoted it for you.

I still find it difficult to work out how only paying 5% vat, and club states 12.5% discount, where has the other 2.5% gone.
They say they work out base prices and the add 5% vat, no one can tell me the base price ?
If for example the pitch fee is £10 per night and you are normally paying 20% vat, then £10 less 20% = £8 which I must assume is the base price, £8 + 5% vat = £8.40
adult £7.50 - 20% = £6 + 5% = £6.30 so how is this base price worked out to deduct only 12.5%
Whilst I appreciate that the club has given us a discount, and some non club sites don't, it still don't compute, perhaps an accountant on here can explain

You’re making the classic error of thinking the whole price is reduced by 15% whereas it is only the vat element that is reduced.
If the pitch fee is £10 (some hope!), then that is already 120% of the base price (100% + the already added 20% = 120%).
£10 divided by 120 = £0.083 x 100 = base price £8.33 (recurring). £8.33 + 5% = £8.75 which is the new price including 5% vat.
£10 less 12.5% = £8.75 so is a simple way of arriving at the same figure.

That's the way I read OP too, WTG. I reported the post hoping for a clarifications from HO.

Harry, the easiest way to work out the cost is to divided the original (advertised) price by 8 and multiply the result by 7. Simples😁

The UK appears well down the international list of ability in maths. It is very badly taught in schools so no one should beat themselves up over percentages. Maths teachers swear a secrecy oath so that only a selected few can do maths. Not really but seems like that. Declaration of interest:retired maths teacher.
