Flushing water through the pipes
Quick question. If, over the winter, you went to the storage yard and ran a barrel of water through the taps, would this take away the need for faffing about with puriclean? Just wondering what folks think (I'm aware of the potential freezing issue).

Quicker answer --> NO !!
I would have thought that C19 had taught us all that cleanliness is imperative in all things. Puriclean or aquatabs or Aqua Sol ( Brians choice ) etc etc are but minutes to use, much better than hours / days in bed or, Heaven forfend, in hospital !!

I use Milton tablets once a year at the start of the season and follow the instructions with regards to dilution and duration. Its only in the system a few minuets and ive never had a problem, and I use the water from the tap for showering, teeth brushing, tea & coffee, ice cubes and the occasional drop in my whisky.

Do you drink water from the tap? If so then proper sterilisation is essential. Use one recommended by your boiler maker because domestic products incl Milton contain sodium hydroxide which will react with aluminium and zinc components basically dissolving the metals. Depending on use I would sterilise frequently. If you don't drink the water then the biggest threat is legionella from the shower. It's rare but could be more prevalent in caravans because most boiler rely on an air bubble at the top of the tank and that allows the bacteria to grow. Modern Alde systems have an anti legionella setting which heat the water to a higher temperature occasionally. I've read nothing about Covid19 being spread through showers. Possibly spread from flushing toilets but jury out.
