Not moving with the times

On the other hand there are quite a few like us that want to move on every 2 / 4 days, so it is easy enough to work round any potential blockages. Since getting a MH we have increased the number of clubs we belong to, adding the C&CC. Gives us plenty to go at. However, when looking for a site, as in the case of Malvern, where CAMC and C&CC are next door to each other, it's this club every time, simply because of the ease of booking.

"Just one question though. Why would the CAMC want to remove one of its major selling points and sink down among the rest of the industry?"
Exactly, I thought the thread was about moving ahead, not backwards.

But also as posted there are many reasons pitches will become available not at short notice the fifteen minutes? later could mean that some one else beat you to the ltast pitch (remember it is LESS than 5 pitches shown available when hovering over the availability)

And equated to about one night's site fee. The figure of £10 is meaningless now all these years down the road. I could fill my fuel tank for £30 and get a meal out for two for £15 etc etc.

With the inflation that would be closer to £20 now but most sites ask £25 to £30. As I have said before, I suspect that most folk wishing to cancel would not be put off cancelling, and especially if just a weekend booking with torrential rain forecast. OK you loose £25 but spend an additional £50+ in fuel and pitch costs to be confined. Far better to loose the deposit for me.

We seldom if ever book more than 4 nights in one place. It's a different experience in a MH. Moving site is no more difficult than going out for the day in a van. During each stay we might walk, cycle or take the van out then we move on 50 or 60 miles. When we had a caravan we would stay longer and drive an hour or more to visit something then drive back again. The difference now is that having moved on to visit something, we don't have to drive back....

I’m more of a Twiglets man, but you need to ditch that caravan thingy and do some proper touring, 😉

I’m firmly in that catergory.

You couldn’t be more wrong.

done enough of the touring thing in my lifetime, spent half my life hopping in and out of aeroplanes, or sailing oceans, or just driving a tourist bus around Scotland (was one of my bucket list to do things) when i retired. Now i just go away for a change of scenery do a bit of sight seeing and chill, that is why i always go for a svcd pitch, back to base 5ish - 6ish cocktail hour sort out some grub, walk the dog, in bed by 2100 with good book or magazine.
for Woodovis because i booked within 6 weeks of arrival i had to pay the full whack Ouch!!! but they do provide insurance if required to get your money back if no show, like to kee3p it simple, but weather report not all bad so looking forward to it.

Hmmmm, cocktail hour, now I’m getting interested. This 21:00 thing explains why there’s nobody on here in the evenings and plenty of posts before I emerge from my slumbers at the other 9 o’clock in the day.
As a complete aside, one of the benefits of site restrictions and toilet closures etc, is that I no longer have to plan my day around that quaint tradition on CMC sites - the toilet cleaning schedule.

That reminds me of a story a friend of mine told me about a couple of American tourists he overheard on a cruise in the Med a couple of years back. When the boat called in at Venice one said to the other "are you going to go on the excursion?" to which the reply was "no, I don't think there's much to see here, I'll just stay in the bar!"

I few years back I was trying to decide between sites. The one I was going to choose waned full payment up front. I dropped them an e-mail to explain why I had chosen the other site. Response was 'we don't have any option with online booking but if you phone we can just take a deposit until you arrive. Daft
