Truma ultraflow pump connector leaking!!!

Any advice please?  Setup for the first time in our Bailey Pursuit, connected the water with the pump thingy into the aqua roll. All set up inside following guidelines but when we turn on the water inside, lots of water leaks out of the top of connection on the outside. I have checked the connection and it's sound. Have I just got a dodgy truma ultraflow hose connection? Do they just wear out maybe?  It's a second hand van, this one came with it.

    Firstly my Truma Ultraflow has two black 'O' rings on the connector itself, if they are missing then there's water everywhere.

    Secondly inside under the seat, Is your drain valve set to 'drain' (Up position) therefore stopping flow from the pump and allowing pressure build up.

    Having the drain tap set to drain won't block the pump inlet, it'll just dump the discharge from the pump straight to the ground.

    Then my valve is dodgy, when I forgot to put the lever down it blew the Truma trigger off outside but has always drained internally. Perhaps I'll check mine over, perhaps it's one way only installation.

    Thanks for your feedback. The drain valve is in the flat position so I think that bit is right. The connector has two black rings..I presume they are the two O rings??

    Everything is working inside ie heating etc. And it is only leaking outside when we put the taps on.

    The 'O' rings may have flattened over time, I would prise them off to look at the condition of them. Maybe a hairline crack in the socket as mine takes quite a 'wiggle' to unplug even using a bit of lube, or pressure switch set to high?

    As a temporary fix, you might get away with a dab of silicone grease or spray on the O rings, if that’s what you think it might be. I carry a box of assorted O rings in the van - from Aldi for about £4.

    Thanks so much. We will try to take the o rings of and lubricate them. Not sure how you change the water pressure though!

    Have you pushed the connector in until it clicks into place? It needs a relatively firm push to get it to seat into place correctly especially if the 'O' rings aren't lubricated with silicone or similar.You have to pull a little trigger underneath to release it if it is the same as mine. It shouldn't pull out unless you do this.

    .... and if the trigger lock catch is broken it will either fly out or be dislodged and leak badly.

    If its been disconnected from the van by the pipe and not by holding the plug in bit then the pipe inside can come loose inside the head.  It can be reassembled but often the damage has been done and a repeat leak is always possible.

    Thank you so much for all your advice. We have tried a most of your suggestions but still need to check inside the head to see if the pipe has come away. If that doesn't work then I think we will have to buy a new one!!!

    If you do have to buy a new pump assembly I suggest you consider getting the Whale equivalent to the Truma Ultraflow. The hose is far more flexible than the Truma hose which can kink and reduce the flow especially in cold weather.

    The Whale part number is EP1642 but check with the dealer to make sure it is the equivalent to yours before you buy.

    Thanks JohnM20.... i think that is a very good idea after researching a bit more about the issues that people have with the Truma hose!

    I would second that. Our van came with the Truma external pump and a Reich in the inboard tank. I replaced them both straightaway with Whale High Flows and the increase in pressure and flow rate was really noticeable. Just make sure you get the “High Flow” - not the normal one. Added advantage of Whale is the clip on top to secure the pipe when removed from the Aquaroll for filling.

    The Whale pump with a Truma plug is a standard accessory and from memory is about £60.

    Have a look to see if the pipe has split with in the blue outer sleeve you may have to cut the outer pipe off

    Thanks guys. We're heading off home today and we will take the head apart and check the pipe. Think we I'll buy a new whale unit too so we can definitely use the water on our next trip!

    First of all try giving it a good shove to make sure it is pushed right in. But it sounds like it needs new "O rings". I bought a small pack from my caravan dealer, but apparently you can get them from Aldi. However the whole unit is a nasty plastic molding and liable to crack. You could prise the two sections apart and check the pipe is held on with a universal clip. I had to replace the whole thing this year on my 4 year old caravan. You can get them from a dealer and they are easy to fit.

    We had this problem. Take off the plastic casing on the socket of the ultraflow pump and check that the blue tube is pushed firmly into place. Ours wasn’t - hence why the pump would work but the water splurted out of the socket at high speed and no water from the taps.

    I had a similar problem with my Bailey Phoenix. Finally had it fixed by my service guy. Had to replace a valve inside the caravan I think.  Sorry I can't  be of more help. Currently away in the caravan in Portugal, where, fingers crossed , everything is working OK.

    PS Am I the only person who thinks Bailey could improve their quality control?

    If you have a Whale water pump, it might be the hose becoming loose on the inside of the connector. See this video on YouTube https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WyhkkAVTax0

    This happened to me. However, I just put some glue on the pipe, relocated it and so far, it has worked.

    It's happened to us too.  We trimmed ours (as in the video), but didn't use glue... it has worked fine since.

    Just one thing..... should you unscrew the unit in a sink or shower tray (as in the video), I'd certainly put the plug in the drain hole.  If I did it without the plug, you can guess where the screws would end up..... 🤣🤣

    We have had this on our new to us Bessecar. The o rings seem to perish very quickly and won’t hold the connector in place. The person we bought it off told us about it and supplied a bag of o rings . We just put a new one on each time it starts leaking. 
    also the bottom retaining clip on the Truma socket needs to be properly locking on.
