Noises of jets at Sandringham

Haha....don't worry , i‘m not under the illusion that i think i’m special enough , nor am i arrogant enough to think i have the right to halt aircraft 🙄
my post was more to warn others in case they are thinking of going and it bothers them . Especially those with noise sensitive dogs like we used to have . As i know it can upset them and this was ultra loud and went on for ages . I read nothing of it in the other reviews , for that reason i mentioned it .
so no...i wont be writing to Liz . Just dog owners on here 👍

We were there in late October last year and don't recall any noise but it was pretty dull weather which might have restricted flying?
Generally I don't worry about aircraft noise but I did find the constant noise at the Edinburgh site distracting. Interesting to watch the planes come in but gets a bit wearing when you are trying to get to sleep!
We only live about 15 miles from Silverstone and in the good old days when the great and the good used to arrive by helicopter. I think they used to claim that Silverstone was the busiest airport in the world on race day!!! Anyway they used to fly directly over our house which I found interesting. However the poor next door neighbours always went away for the Silverstone weekend as she was really affected by the noise.

These were a bit noisy. Not the sort of site to visit if aircraft noise bothers you. 😂 We enjoyed our stay.😀
It is Gatwick. The white pegs are just about on the runway.

Not sure if it’s still operational, but the Wash area was used as a bombing range...........

It is a location that we often see unusual aircraft in. Others have mentioned different locations similar.
This is the loudest thing I can ever recall seeing and hearing, Concorde and four Vulcan’s scrambling at Finningley Airshow, in the 1970’s. Apologies for the quality of the old film, but I can feel the ground shaking, smell the fuel and feel the heat. Awesome.

Very nostalgic. Took our kids to the Finningley air show in the 80's. We went for a flight in a DC3.
I remember a Vulcan flying over our school on the outskirts of Bristol in the 60's with a Concorde engine strapped to the bottom. They also used the Lightnings shown in the clip (at higher level) to simulate the sonic booms, to see if folk would accept them supersonic as they came over the coast. After they shattered some glass houses and terrified farm and domestic animals, they decide they would have to slow down further out.

Think it does depend on their flying schedule. Couple of other people on site complained and a person in this thread earlier said you can check on line whats happening and whats flying before you book.
Believe me not a single person could have missed them the two days we were staying there . Wow ...they were loud and long!what puzzled us the most was why each one took 10 minutes of loud rumbling to pass, rather than one or two . It was just weird.
EasyT you picked a good...non flying time to visit . And we picked a very very bad one 😆edit...sorry EastT i realise you many be talking about Edinburgh

I went to the show a few years running in the late 1970’s. The afternoon and evening before the show used to be very interesting, there was always a lot of avid aircraft fans at the end of the runway, many with radio kit tuned in listening to what might be happening, arriving. The actual Airshow itself was superb, a lot of variety, and it was primarily military aircraft, so nothing much commercial. But Concorde and the Vulcans were very special. Watching a Victor (simulate) refuelling a Vulcan in the air, the Vintage Pair (Vampire and Meteor), short landing a Hercules so all the tyres burst, and the Stealth Blackbird😁 And it was always a hot sunny day.......😂

I think you know what you’re getting if you stay at Gatwick 😊
it was the surprise at Sandringham ....surprise or shock in our case 😆

We've stayed at Sandringham quite a few times and I don't recall any aircraft noise, either. Now sites in North Yorkshire - that's another matter. There's aircraft flying overhead nearly every day - presumably out of RAF Leeming. Best experience I have ever had, though, was whilst staying at a commercial site in Woodhall Spa (just down the road from RAF Coningsby) when a Lancaster, Spitfire and Hurricane were obviously doing a training flight and they flew around for ages. Wonderful!!

Yes, Woodhall Spa is a great location. There’s a CL there called Dakota Park, owners have actually included a raised banking for aircraft viewing. We happened to be visiting Tattershall Castle, and were right up the tall tower when Spitfire was doing its thing. The pilot’s eyes were blue!😂

Conningsby hosts the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight and a great place to spend a couple of hours. The best place to see (and feel) the jets at Conningsbury is to continue down Old Boston Road beyond the main entrance to RAF Conningsbury until you can go no further. That takes you to the point on the runway (with parking) where the planes get airborne, so maximum power on for full effect. At that point some of the Typhoons perform an almost vertical climb which is amazing to watch - like a space rocket take-off.
