Thetford Toilet Continuous Flush

Hi all,

I have a Thetford C262 toilet which up until the weekend was working fine. At some point someone pushed the flush button and the flush pump hasn't stopped since. I've disconnected for now but have surmised that the PCB has failed. Now all I have to do is find someone who has a replacement to sell. Has anyone any other thoughts on what the issue could be?

    Has the flush button just stuck

    Dampness and corrosion of the connections to the PCB most likely, it is a known problem, we have experienced it many times.

    To overcome the problem, I have fitted a second button on the top of the toilet.  This interrupts the power to the pump, to get it to flush we now have to press both buttons at once.

    The push button is a "biased off" one from Maplin (are they still around?)

    If Maplin's don't have one you could try Woolworth's.

    Seriously though, there seem to be plenty of replacement PCBs available on line but I would inspect the PCB before replacing it and check for corrosion (as mentioned above), If necessary I would clean the pcb with switch cleaner/solvent (but WD40 would work just as well) and a small stiff brush.

    I got fed up cleaning the pcb and the connections, so decided to find a permanent solution.

    I am sure I put an emoticon in my last post.

    I had not come across this problem but it sounds like the PCB needs some extra protection after it is cleaned, a quick puff off PCB Lacquer may help , remember to de-grease the board (Meths or similar) and cover any contact surfaces first.

    Yep.....a new button to allow the power to reach the pump, the original button to actually do the flushing.

    Hold down the new button then push the original one.  Works perfectly.

    Bring back the manual flush. None of that there noo-fangled electrickery. wink
