Caravan water tank - leak & query

I have an Adria Altea 5DK 2012 caravan.  Last week I noticed that the water tank under the bottom bunk was leaking.  As I was on a site at the time, I used rags to absorb the leak for our last few days.  I have been researching it jic it is something simple to fix and - despite caravanning for 7 years - have only just realised that this is the water heater and not just a tank which holds water on board!

So, my questions for anyone who can help me are:   am I right, is the blue box the water heater?  And, if so, can I bypass it and only use cold water for my trip this weekend, to avoid the leak?  Will the water system just pull the water from the water hog if I only want cold water?

I will then have to get it looked at.

Thanks in advance.

I don't think that model has a water storage tank so would take cold water straight from the aquarol. the tank your talking about will be the hot water tank so should be a y connector before the boiler so when hot tap on takes heated water and replaced with cold from outside but when cold tap turned on takes water trom outside and bypasses the boiler to feed the taps. I could be completely wrong here but should be something like that. undecided

Thank you for your reply.  That is what I think too.  I will try it this weekend - luckily am caravanning with some friends who used to have the same model caravan so may be able to help also.

    Thanks smile

The pump will still pressurise the water heater so the leak will continue.

Something like disconnecting at that "Y" piece and sticking a bung in the pipe to the heater; or replacing the "Y" with a straight connector will be needed.

Remember to switch off the water heater or remove its fuse if seperate electrical feed.
