Looking at car insurance via the club as 270 days in Europe allowed. Checking details found the following ref travel outside the UK. So what countries are not covered outside the EU. Thinking in the future of going to Greece.
1 Territorial limitsThis policy provides the cover described in your schedule in Great Britain, Northern Ireland, the Isle of Man and the Channel Islands and during sea journeys between these places.It also provides the minimum cover you need by law to use your motor car in:• any country which is a member of the European Union; and• any country where the United Kingdom have signed the Multilateral Agreement with those countries to provide the equivalent minimum Road Traffic Acts

My best guess would include non EU countries like Switzerland, Norway and Iceland, but exclude much of the Balkans. Where are you hoping to go?

Presently dreaming of where to go next year with the car insurance due in 4 weeks.We may go a long way south or north up into Sweden and Norway. Just wish they defined the countries like other companies do. At some stage we had thought of going to Greece during the winter for a long time.

Hi Footlooserv.
Your point is taken, but because we operate a panel of insurers, we need to ensure that we get all members of that panel to sign up to a common wording. This means that any change to a list of countries would require significant resource and cost to reprint policy wordings.
Some of the cost of any reprint of policy wordings would need to be contributed to from Club funds, so as you can appreciate, we aim to keep this sort of occurrence to a minimum.
However, I have discussed this subject with our partner brokers, Devitt Insurance Services, and we have looked at some other insurers’ policy wordings. Some do indeed include a list, but in these cases they always say “countries include . . .” which leaves them some ‘wiggle room’ should that list change.
That said, we do agree that we could be a little more specific, particularly on the ‘Multilateral Agreement’ referred to, so that, at the very least, policy-holders could search the web and find the most current list.
We have noticed that some insurers refer to: “any country which the Commission of the European Community approves as meeting the requirements of Article 8 of EC Directive 2009/103/EC on Insurance of Civil Liabilities arising from using motor vehicles” – which is a bit of a mouthful, but would make searching on the web a lot easier!
As it happens, we have a review of the Car Insurance Policy Wording coming up in the fourth quarter of this year, and taking your point on board, we will be working with the insurers to find a clearer way of making this information known.
A final point, relating to your up-coming travel plans, obviously you can always call us to check specific countries (all the ones you mentioned are definitely covered). And don’t forget, once you know where you’re going, you have cover for up to 270 days, which is specifically designed for tourers and caravan-towers and not available on many car policies.

Thanks, good to see that you will have a review on this matter.
I like may others would prefer to email and not telephone questions as you suggest due to the possible long wait on a line and also not having contract mobiles. Pay as you go mobiles more than cover our requirements and save us lots of money.

I have now found that Happy Place caravan insurance which is the trading name of Caravan Guard Ltd covers the following countries which is impressive -
Continent of Europe Albania, Andorra, Austria, Belarus, Belgium, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Croatia, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Faro Islands, Finland, France, Germany, Gibraltar, Greece, Hungary, Iceland, Italy including Vatican, Latvia, Liechtenstein, Lithuania, Luxembourg, The Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia, Malta, Moldova, Monaco, Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal including Madeira, Republic of Ireland, Romania, San Marino, Serbia and Montenegro, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain including Balearics and Canaries, Sweden, Switzerland, Turkey, Ukraine. Any country which is a member of the European Union.

Interesting this includes the statement "minimum cover" for the countries you visit. What is the minimum cover required in these countries? In UK, that would be third party only so no comprehensive, or fire and theft cover! I suppose each country has different requirements, or is there a minimum EU requirement and what is it.
