Crowded holiday areas are no surprise especially in good weather, it's something we always put up with locally. This year we've avoided some of our usual evening visits to Lyme Regis or West Bay and I'm glad people who don't live here are enjoying what we enjoy all year round. A pity some flock to the same spots but it does leave a few other places less crowded.

I don't feel life is on hold just different and adapting is the challenge. smile

Roll on September when the masses should be back at work ( some hope) and if Boris stands up to the teaching unions the schools will be open.

very optimistic, have been looking at some UK sites for Sept in case our trip to France falls through, and most are full at the weekends with very little to be had during the week, dont know if it is the oldies coming out of hibernation or the masses not returning to work, and if the weather holds up the rush may continue into October.

We booked ours some time ago and have noted the same. I think it is just folk like us who have decided not to go abroad this year. We decided right back in April, others in more recent months. Just need to hope now that the case numbers don't increase even further, resulting in regional lockdowns, which would probably scupper things.

Yes, we had problems with September bookings too,    but October was relatively easy.

Living on the edge of a large city, it is difficult to get away from the crowds, all the places where there is parking and toilets will always be busy on a good day.  Heading into deepest darkest Ayrshire yesterday, we were joined on the M way by the hoards heading to the coast as it was warm and sunny, and the last day of the school holidays.

No doubt it was busy along Loch Lomond and beyond, and in the Trossachs too, so had we not been going to visit family, we would have stayed home.  Having lived here 32 years, we have pretty much seen the local area, so our escape is to go away in the caravan out of school holidays, and that has been "on hold" since March.  As has visiting family until quite  recently.

Have you seen the picture of that illegal barbeque party in the South East on MSN.  And its us the oldies that they want to penalise!!

You're definitely looking in the wrong places then. We've booked 6 week trip ( so far) for September and October without much problem. In fact have just booked 3 nights on a site from 23rd of this month at first try.
