Price hike
Can’t believe the cost of staying at CCM Sites, just booked Seacroft for mid September £31 per night, we also booked 3 nights at a lovely independent site £58, would have been £93 at CCM site and that is membership price. Disgraceful

Welcome to peak season and the year of the staycation!

Hi, PMM. it’s a good job you joined to take advantage of the discounted site fees for members.
Actually, £31 isn’t bad for Seacroft. Enjoy your stay.0 -
Wasn’t the original idea of the caravan club to provide members with affordable holidays? We are seriously questioning weather it’s worth being a member.

It’s wrong, we shouldn’t accept it.

Well even if that were true, club site prices are middle of the road. There are more expensive and less expensive sites out there. They are what they are, pay them or not.
You mentioned Seacroft and because of its extra facilities is at the top end of club prices.
Can I ask did you check out site prices before joining?
1 -
I'm Confused, who is saying you have to accept it?
2 -
I don't think anyone yet has agrued for the price being correct, expensive or not have they? Merely that it is one's choice to pay it, just like you did recently for your stay on a club site?
3 -
Don’t know about that, but upwards of £30 is about par for the course for a full facilities site at this time of the year. I do understand your point though, are you getting a return on your membership fee? Only you can decide. For me it’s marginal, but I do like the option to use all CMC sites and the CL network. Others continue membership for insurance discounts, ferry bookings etc, but little to be gained there in my experience.

What's wrong?
Why did you join, Mr P and, more to the point, why did you book Seacroft if you considered it too expensive? I’m puzzled by your actions.

Mid September is hardly peak period!
We have just booked a few sites for September/October, before the VAT reduction it is an average of £23.75 per night, dropping to £20.75 with the VAT reduction, which is affordable.
We may well yet change out a few of them for CLs.

You‘re are right of course, it’s not peak, but we’re talking a few quid difference in the nightly rate, so maybe I should have said ‘high’ season. Happy?

We joined 15 years ago, when they didn’t rip you off too much, but as camping as become more popular site fee’s have gone up and up and the more you accept it, the more it will go up.
1 -
Well.....if I was thinking of booking it, I would rule it out at £31(Pre VAT reduction) as that is just far too much to pay for a site for us In September. Schools are back, it is not even high season.
Is there really a difference between peak and high? To me they mean the same. Far too many different periods in the CAMC year these days,
We are increasingly voting with our wheels and using more CCC sites and CLs.
IT was JVB who said It was "peak"

If you believe (and so do I) that the more people accept these prices the likelihood it will result in even higher prices why did you book it!
There are lots of CLs at half that price which will give you a much more pleasurable experience.
Just be thankful you haven't booked Hillhead for the same period at £34 per night. If you do want to go there instead there is still plenty of space!

It’s not peak season, and no campsite should be charging more than £20 for a overnight parking pitch, only the UK sites get away with it. It’s time to question these price’s
0 -
Then people should decide for themselves to accept it or not. But the puzzling thing is that you have accepted it, why? surely follow your own advice?
You are talking like club sites are some basic necessity and you are forced to use/buy them?
2 -
I totally agree CLS are better value and we are booking club sites less and less, we are off setting the cost with free nights at a pub. It’s not that we are hard up, it’s the thought of being ripped off that really gets me.

No it isn't, any more than questioning sainburys when their price for whatever is higher than Aldi's.
It is pointless to do so. The only thing you can do is go to Aldi.
Everyone is asking, why did you book if you really think it was too high?
0 -
Everyone? I’m not, don’t include me in your cabal. I get it. You want something bad enough you pay, but doesn’t stop you feeling ripped off tho’

£20 p/n to supply full facilities, bar and restaurant, pay the staff, pay for maintenance, electricity, water, rates? That’s laughable 😂😂😂
You question all you like but you’re being totally unrealistic.
I'm still hoping to hear why you booked the site when you dislike the cost so much.

It’s not peak season
