    I have just returned to my home in dumfries and galloway after a few days up on the north west coast on a private site.I cut my break short due to the unbelievable ignorance of people on site and on the roads!I have never seen so many hired motorcaravans!The hirers are quite obviously unaware of campsite ettiquet regarding speed on site,selfish parking  in that on a site where the pitches were not marked but a requirement to be a certain distance from other units 2 or 3 units would cluster round the electric points thereby hiding them from other units, dogs allowed to roam freely and people in general not distancing!(all the regulations were listed when booking!The numbers of motorcaravans in general flycamping in the most stupid places!Traffic back to pre lockdown levels!The weather was not kind either!!!yell

    WTG the other website suggested by peedee, searchforsites.co.uk is also well worth a look at as it shows both motorbike stopoffs  as well as sites, including CLs and CSs.

    WTG, one of peedee's suggested forestry commission nights stop is Queens View in upper Perthshire.

    If you stayed at Scone/Perth you could travel up the A9 to Pitlochry stop overnight at 'Queens View' then travel north the next day passing Blair Atholl on the way.

    The A9 just north of Perth is under roadworks (to dual the road) its been ongoing for a while and will go on until 2022. Its very busy just now as everyone is out and about again but by the end of Oct/Nov it shouldn't be a problem. Its a good time of year to be up here then, half term over and the wimps don't come wink

    That will not stop happening until I recover my sense of humour ******I am a little upset by the reaction I got when attempting to give an insight into the current position in an area which the person is apparently not visiting contrary to their initial enquiry.I am also quite annoyed by the removal of my response to this persons totally out of order reply to my answer.As I have had ,in the past,to give up on giving advice on queries of which I have some knowledge,I will once again withold my exclamation marks.********(*******%$£")?@{

    I have no idea why Brue was so upset by his comments David. Seemed fairly innocuous to me

    Thanks again,TG. It looks as if the school holidays will extend over 3 weeks then. We've been able to book 2 sites in Perth & Kinross, one going north and another on the way down, before Yellowcraig for the last midweek that it is open.

    +1. I thought the same after yesterday's posts. Must be the hot weather that's causing all the friction.

    Apparently you can get to Skye without touching the north west of Scotland so maybe I need a geography lesson!

    Not the hot weather,just a person that does not know where they intend to travel and unable to give a retort without shouting.Most rude.

    WTG, our last visits to Scotland touring have all been in Autumn. We took caravan and did East Coast Lothians, cross country to Oban, and then we drove right down onto Mull of Kintyre, as we met up with family and we had all the log cabins on the Carradale Site (which was closed at the time) This was late October, early November. The Autumn colours were truly memorable, and we had the whole Site to ourselves, including the beach. The weather was changeable, to be expected at that time of year, but Kintyre is a very beautiful and unspoilt area. Something for another time perhaps.

    And I've no idea why you've mentioned my name...I'm bemused by much of this. I hope WTG has found most of the information supplied by me and others useful. smile

    Thank you TG. That is really useful advice for the area we intend to visit (as outlined in my OP).

    You are welcome. If our trip to France happens we will be back by the time you come up here (if you do) so you may see us out and about on our travels around Scotland.
