LED High level brake light

My high level brake light is lit with the side lights on and extinguishes when you brake..... My car is a Volvo so the high level brake light is permanently lit until you brake...  Any ideas? I assume some sort of earthing issue?

The caravan is an Adria with 13 pin connection, normal filament bulbs apart from LED side markers.

Any suggestions very welcome. I struggle to see how the two circuits can interact like this other than the earth.

I'd agree with you re an earthing issue. I can only suggest that you clean up any & all connection to the tail lights that you can find .... bulbs in their holders & spade connectors to the light fittings.

I don't know about your caravan, but on my previous Lunar there was a multi pin plug/socket under the back of the caravan in the loom to the tail lights and that caused spurious lighting issues which were sorted with switch cleaner in the plug/socket.
