Dogs being accepted on buses
I am a motorhomer and when I was at the Brecon site, some time ago I and decided to catch the bus to Brecon from the site with my 2 dogs. I was in the queue when a couple arrived who had 3 small dogs. When the bus arrived, the driver refused to allow us on the bus as we had dogs with us. I am not sure if this was because the driver did not allow dogs full stop, did not want so many dogs on the bus or if is the policy of that particular bus company. I have never been refused passage or in fact had any hassle from a bus company driver due to having the dogs with me (although I was once refused passage by a replacement train, coach driver) and wondered if anyone has had this problem before in Brecon or anywhere else in the UK?

We have not been refused getting on a bus with our dog (one)sometimes free ,but i understand it is up to the driver if dogs are allowed on, no matter what the company policy is
I have been refused when i had a can of paint
Also been on a bus when a disabled person was refused when the buggy area was already in use by a pram ,(of which the disabled person complained he should have priority and the lady with all her shopping a toddler and baby in pram should get off

Stagecoach service website says one well behaved dog at the discretion of the driver - on all routes, not just in Scotland. Other companies have other rules - some more lenient, some more strict. Best to check in advance.

Yes, best to check. Gloucs buses don't allow any dogs except guide dogs. Some companies charge a small fee, (in Devon for instance) all down to driver's discretion. Maybe three tiny dogs but not three Great Danes etc...just be prepared and do your homework.

The bus company that runs between Worcester and Hereford, and stops opposite the Bromyard Downs site, does not allow dogs on their buses any more, more's the pity.

We use quite a few buses when we are away and whilst we don't have dogs we have been on plenty of buses that do. My advice would be to do your research before you go if it is a make or break situation. If you look at Google Earth you can check which bus operators work in the area to want to stay in and there is usually a link to the various company websites.

an item on my bucket list was to get a PSV licence, i was 60+, and drive buses/coaches, I already had an HGV licence, again on bucket list, was based at depot in Mcduff, Stage Coach, rule was only one dog at discretion of driver, you could always tell those that were going to be a nuisance if we allowed more than one onboard.

It’s very very rare we look to take our dog/s on any kind of public transport. If we do, we do our research, gather any helpful guidance and decide if it’s a viable alternative. One of our dog’s did Eurostar once. Free as well. He was as good as gold.
