Water Pump
We had our first trip away last week and all was well until the water pump stopped working. Searching for advice I thought the pump, a Truma submersible had simply packed in so I bought a Whale replacement. Arrived today but still no joy. Open a tap, the pump light switch comes on but the pump doesn't seem to be activated and there is no water. I have checked fuses and just tested the truma pump housing with a multi meter and there is power. I am baffled, can anyone help!?

There are microswitches. You can here the click when you open the tap but nothing happens. Thanks.

If there is power at the socket and it's a new pump (which presumably is OK), it's pretty likely that the two aren't making contact.
Clean the contacts in the housing with some emery paper (I usually 'borrow' one of Ros's emery boards which are ideal for the job!). If this doesn't do it - then check that the pins are actually contacting each other. They can get bent back after protracted use - so just bend each of them downwards slightly, so that they are making firm contact with the pump pins.
If this cures it - then you now probably have a spare pump - which is always a good idea to carry, anyway!

My Truma connector failed on our last trip. There was a small crack in the plastic housing so that the electrical connectors had insufficient pressure to make a good contact. I had to buy a new connector.
