Water grade hose
hi,
I am looking for advice on which is the better water grade hose.
Is it rigid or flat ? There are lots on the market but I am finding it difficult to decide on which. I am assuming that rigid is stronger but takes up more stowage space and flat is the opposite.
If anyone has experiences of them and would like to share it I would appreciate any guidance.
Cheers

But much easier to store. Aren’t all hoses 'water grade'?
Ours is rather like this and rolls up with no trouble.

I have a 20m flat hose with water stop connectors, they are fine under pressure but once you try to dispel water from it unless you have squeezed it all out, any residue will leak out as I found to my cost.....
I'm going to cut 5m off it as it seems plenty & purchase a connector to join them up if need be.....

I suspect Bam Bam meant 'food grade' hoses perhaps?
We use flat hoses these days and haven't experienced a problem so far. We have 5 metre hoses and just join together as many as we need.... It also makes them easy to drain.... you can just about hold 5 metres up in the middle and the water runs out....

I have had a flat 'food grade' hose for many years but have tended to use an ordinary round hosepipe in recent years. The biggest problem, which is worse if the water tap is close to the pitch, is that flat hoses kink very easily reducing, if not stopping completely, the water flow. On the basis that we don't drink any of the water stored in the Aquaroll the fact that the round hose is not 'food grade' seems irrelevant.
Flat hose does store in a smaller space but whether it is easier to drain out and store is another question. I just roll up the round hose, draining as I go, put it in a polythene bag and store it in the front locker. So far I'm still alive and not had any stomach upsets as a result of using non-food grade hose.
Cleaning the inside of flat hose is very difficult. Round hose is very cheap and can be replaced frequently. It is also easier to get Milton or similar cleaning products into a round hose.
