Please be aware that a person by the name of Mandy Marriott has been caught on the  CL Owners' Facebook Group, advertising as the owner of Salterford Dam CL.

She is not the owner and any enquiries should be directed to Jo West who is the legitimate owner.

Wonder what she hopes to gain from that?

She's apparently taking 'fake' bookings and asking for payment of deposits.

Well spotted by whoever. I wonder if there are others up to the same trick. I thought that one had to be a CL owner to post on their FB group, and it was not open to all and sundry to view. There seems a great problem with F B where anyone can be whoever they choose and there's no checking if they are honest or not.

If I may clarify this post.

I moderate the CLBooking group in which this happened.  We ensure everyone advertising CLs within the group are verified CL owners.  Obviously members can recommend any CL on there but 'advertising' is only allowed from verified owners.

I picked up something was amiss from the lady's very first comments within the group and I followed it up with questions and checking the CL information on the CAMC website.  I immediately emailed the CL in question and was on the phone with the owner within a matter of minutes.  After a little detective work on my part we were able to establish exactly who the lady was and what she was up to.  Once our investigations were complete the lady was immediately removed from the CLBooking group.

I think the most important point to come from this incident is that this could actually happen in any social media group but the difference is with CLBooking everything is closely monitored and all CL owners vetted to ensure they are genuine.

We want members who are using the CLBooking Group to find pitches to feel confident they are dealing with and booking with genuine CAMC CL sites and I think this incident demonstrates perfectly that is the case.  This would not be the case in any other Facebook group.

If you are looking for a pitch on a CAMC CL please join the CLBooking Facebook group where owners are keen to showcase their sites to members.  We also have a list of 'last minute cancellation pitches' available which is updated daily.

Just had a look and impressive that you have nearly 5000 members, it shows the increasing influence of Social Media.

Thanks for the clarification. It's good to know that your FB group is closely monitored, unlike some FB groups.

And also the popularity of cl's.

I can vouch for the FB group in question and it's momentum increases daily both with members and site owners
