Delamination of Windows?
Hi,
I'm new to the caravan scene, and recently put down a deposit on a lunar quasar 524 2014 which i'll be picking up in 2 weeks.
The caravan is spotless as far as I can see, and when receiving the caravan it will have PDI to ensure everything is working as it should.
The 2 outer windows at the front, the black round the edges seems to be going white? I got told its because they have faded with the sun, but now reading up on delamination im getting slightly worried, also my £500 is non refundable.
I have uploaded an video of the 2 front windows to YouTube.
The windows seem to open find with no problems. If anyone has good knowledge to what it is, it would be much appreciated.
Thanks.
Chris.

Luner had a problem with some Windows ,and the video seems to be they are starting to break down ,it is not what the saleman is trying to tell you or i think it would be not just on the edges
Get them to replace them or get your deposit back do not be fobbed off by "salesperson speak"

Unfortunately like an idiot I payed the deposit on a debit card. So now I have the dilemma of not getting the caravan and losing my £500 deposit.
I have also read that the warrenty doesn't cover windows.
Would replacing the front 2 outer windows (in the near future) cost more than the £500 I'll be losing on the deposit?

There is no such thing as a totally non refundable deposit outside of a private sale.
I believe there is a right to a refund in this case although the seller is entitled to his reasonable admin costs
A business seller will be subject to consumer rules and regulations. In particular Schedule 2, Regulation 1(d) of the Unfair Terms in Consumer Contracts Regulations 1999.
It states that if the contract has been cancelled after a deposit has been placed the prospective purchaser is entitled to have the deposit returned in full, unless the seller has spent time, effort and money, in which case they can deduct reasonable expenses.
A blanket non-refundable clause that entitles the seller to keep the deposit in all circumstances is likely going to be unfair and unlawful.
Also debit card providers do offer some protection via the 'Chargeback Scheme' It is therefore worth getting in touch with your card provider if you ask for a refund and it is not forthcoming
If a reasonable refund is not forthcoming then tell the dealer that you will report the matter to the Office of Fair Trading
Maybe also consider small claims.
However there is every likelihood that the dealer will refund given time

I would have thought if replacing with new then definitely.
SFM typically supply second hand for around £50 plus postage if not near. But E-bay sellers probably ask double this or more

Yes, agree, cancel your order straight away and ask for your deposit back. However, if you are otherwise happy with the caravan just tell the dealer that you will go ahead with the purchase so long as he REPLACES the delaminating windows, do not accept any form of repair. Easy T has outlined your rights and a suggested course of action; the law is on your side. Be polite but firm.

Thanks for the advice guys I really do appreciate that.
I'm going to the caravan dealership tomorrow morning with someone who has caravan experience.
If they say its not delamination and just discolouration im going to get the caravan engineers who are listed on the caravan club website to check the caravan for me. £210 for an inspection is worth it in the long run I think.
I'm hoping to get my deposit back and buy a caravan at a later day maybe Christmas when its best to buy.
Thanks for the advice guys!
