    Just returned from a two night stay at Thetford Forest. (Mon- Wed)

    Check in much as normal - except only one person in office, screen up to protect staff, paid by credit card as usual.

    Sanitiser by reception and storgae area.

    There is no toilet block.

    Site pretty much full, but every one keeping their distance.  Had to wait at a distance briefly to get to tap on one occasion, but despite full site & people using own facilities, no queues.  Used our own hand washing/sanitiser if been to bins, taps, loo empytying point.

    Felt absolutely fine to be there.

    We were at Burford Club Site this last weekend. We were both very apprehensive(over 70), but felt that we should try it. The site wardens had really worked hard to make the site as safe as possible. It was almost fully booked, I think. We paid, and were offered a choice of pitches , a couple of days previously. The whole thing must have been so stressful for the staff, but they stayed polite and cheerful. The people staying on the site, as far as I was aware, were mindful and behaved appropriately. Well done Burford! You made us feel as safe, and as relaxed, as possible, under the current circumstances. C

    Just returned from a few nights at Castleton. Not apprehensive about going...we had booked a serviced pitch and as always we used our own facilities. Site Warden rang a few days earlier to go through the site procedures and take my payment in advance. She also gave me our pitch number.

    As we used our own facilities we didn't get to use the wrist band procedure for using the TB, but was told it worked OK....and the CEP had a one at a time notice outside, although why any self respecting virus would go anywhere near the CEP beggars belief...

    Hand sanitisers were stationed at regular points around the site and....everyone was very polite and respectful of the 2m distance rule..

    I think we should have a 'clap for the Wardens' who have gone the extra mile for us..

    EDIT:- You place your wrist band on the hook as you go in and collect on way out..if all three hooks are 'occupied' then the TB is full.

    Commons Wood

    We arrived at Commons Wood on 4 July for 5 nights. The wardens nailed it!

    We were contacted a few days before arrival and paid for our pitch. On arrival at our allocated time there was no queue. Given an envelope with all the necessary information, wrist bands etc and proceeded to our pitch.

    Although the site was almost full there were no queues for water / waste points etc although a queuing system was in place if required.

    We did not use the block as we used our own facilities but there seemed to be a good system in place to avoid too many people using the block at one time.

    Well done to the wardens.

    Overall it was a very enjoyable stay and not really much different to normal (for us anyway).

    Just got back from 3 nights at Black Knowl.

    It obvious that the club has put a lot of thought and work into making social distancing etc work whilst still allowing people to tour.

    What really bugged me is the attitude of some members.  Outside of the dishwasing area are clear instructions that state "only one family group allowed in at any one time and if the facilities are in use then please wait your turn"

    So 3 times I was washing up and others came in to use the sinks, it seemed to appear that it was the norm for it be OK for 2 separate groups to wash up at the same time instead of the stated 1 group.

    Got some black looks when I asked people to leave and wait there turn outside.

    I see swimming pools are to open, this will affect the two (?) sites that have them

    Is that public or all pools ? more staff to employ if club open the three they have ,and they will have to bedeep cleaned first ?

    It will in so much as the Lifeguards may have to go through re training Corners. Because the pools have been closed, Lifeguard training hasn’t been happening, and it’s part of the qualification to train on a regular basis. Shouldn’t take long though to get that sorted. 😁

    Just back from 3 nights at a campsite in Aberdeenshire. Site belongs to the C&CC. 

    Nearly all the H/S pitches taken and a couple of the grass ones. Facilities block was closed and will stay closed for the remainder of the season. All water points, bins and chemi toilet points had hand sanitiser dispensers fixed to a wooden post. The site staff came round every few hours to sanitise the equipment. 

    It all felt quite safe but different. Folk kept a bit more to themselves but did speak if passing. I would say that most just wanted to get away and have a change of scenery I know we did. 

    Some of the places we visited had very little open but then we are in Scotland and not as far forward in the relaxing of lockdown.

    well last time we were at Hill Head, wardens told us they were pool attendants and not life guards as they had had no training as life guards and pool safety was our responsibility, proceduce could have changed as was a 2 or 3 years ago

    Says Lifeguard in Seacroft and Hillhead literature. Not sure about Looe.

    We are currently at York Beechwood Grange and the wardens were fantastic on arriving. The site is busy and everyone seems to be following the procedures put in place. They are using the bands on hooks system for the facility block. It seems to be working with people queuing when the 3 hooks have been used. It would seem that a good number of people are happy to use the facility block rather than their own caravan. Distancing markers have been put down around the service points and the pitches either side have been put out of use.

    Really good to be back in the van - funnily enough our last trip was here the weekend before lockdown - and enjoying this great lifestyle.

    Yes, we were at Seacroft last year and definitely a lifeguard. Got chatting to him and he knew all the ones in the Cromer area, all students earning extra holiday money.

    Just returned from Stover (no facilities). First day very relaxed with timed arrival slot and pre-booked pitch. Wardens very welcoming and had put a lot of thought into make things run smoothly. 

    Very relaxing because of the pre-work the wardens had done and the sensible attitude of members on site.

    Our next planned trip is to Minehead which has a facilities block, so am waiting to see if this is as well organised and the members are just as sensible.

    My only concern during the holiday was the poor discipline of some people shopping in the local supermarket who had no respect for distancing. Obviously, nothing to do with the CAMC and it must be happening all over the country. At the moment, Stover country park (adjacent) is overflowing at times with kids who are unaware of distancing. Just choose your time to visit.

    I don’t think it’s just the supermarket you encountered.  Our local M&S food store is dire for distancing!  I have been 3 times since March and it’s been bad every time.  Glad you enjoyed Stover, we like it there too.  It’s our usual stopover for a few days when heading down to Cornwall.

    When you look at the spikes- Food factories, Leicester sweatshops and now farm in Hereford- its social distancing thats the recurring pattern. Working and living in very close proximity. We need to keep the distances whether on site, shopping, in the pubs etc.

    Our daughter and her partner have a seasonal caravan pitch on a fairly small touring area of a static caravan and lodge site which is part of a larger golf and fishing complex. 

    I visited her on Saturday to deliver and erect our old awning. It was the second day of reopening and most of the owners  were setting up for the season. There were no obvious  restrictions on visitors and no obvious additional precautions, notices or instructions on the touring area or the toilet block. 

    Our daughter and partner had brought additional cleaning materials, sanitizer, etc with them to ensure the toilets and showers were clean for them to use rather than relying on the site.

    The conditions were noticeably different to all I have read on here about the precautions being taken on CAMC sites. I am interested to hear what JK makes of it.

    Have to say all the other seasonal pitch occupiers seemed happy with the site.

    Hi all, arrived at Rowntree park in York on reopening day, what a fantastic experience, contacted 2 days prior to confirm booking and make payment, then on arrival brilliant warden team throughout.   Met at barrier, registered in and then on to pitch of my choice.  Great information and humour, no queues on this very busy site.  Facilities restricted to 4 people in each with rubber band system. Early days but not faultless.  Cleaning 3 times a day, very very efficient team.

    Now sat on Poolsbrook, no phone call to confirm and pay, very long queues to book in, understandingly only 1 in office at a time, but no urgency by members to get in and out quickly, hence very long queues of outfits.  Facilities only 2 in men’s and 3 in women’s, some strange decisions to mark some of the facilities out of use?

    with regards to arrivals I would’ve thought the club would have a universal approach, York excellent and seamless, Poolsbrook not so!

    restrictions on facilities are out of your hands and we appreciate them being open at all, many thanks.

    Not been to Poolsbrook so don't know what the access is like but is the difference down to access and the need to clear the road at Rowntree quickly?

    Fisherman, the Covid 19 outbreak you are referring to is in Herefordshire and in fact nearer Gloucester or Worcester than Hereford itself as you site. From what I am being told it is Eastern Block Horticultural workers that have been working on various jobs on the farm,picking and packing.

    I thought the phone call and pre payment was only for the first opening day. It’s now back to normal.

    If I understood correctly, the special contact in advance, payment and check in arrangements were just for frenzy day on 4 July.

    By the time you arrived at Poolsbrook, Flora, the system would have reverted to something much closer to 'normal'.

    The RNLI and RLSS got together many years ago, to offer a range of Lifeguard qualifications. As you might imagine, the training is slightly different for pool based and beach based. Pool based involves diving to bottom of pool to retrieve an object, and the depth you dive to is usually recorded on your qualification, so technically, if a Lifeguard trains in a 2 metre pool, then that’s the depth they are qualified. But we had a very deep diving pit, so all of ours had to do the retrieve in there, so they could work at any of our pools! The “sinkers” had no problems, the “floaters” had to put more effort in to get down there😂

    Its a good while since I was involved, so some training aspects might have been updated.

    Hi, fully understand the special arrangements for day one but the restrictions due to COVID-19 are ongoing and therefore procedures for arrivals will be difficult for some time so the phone call for confirmation and payment seems like a very good Idea to me.

    They'd need hundreds of extra staff across the network to cope with that on an ongoing basis. Jolly Kernow explained what a huge job it was for the wardens to contact each booked person in advance. The warden team on his site spent hours/days doing it and that was at a time when the site was shut so they didn't have the routine work to contend with as well.

    Making phone calls is very time consuming and especially when people are not by their phone.
