Dashboard Indicator Warning
I’ve picked up a 2015 Bailey Unicorn Valencia S3 today from a dealership. Before setting off, I hooked my car, (Land Rover Freelander 2), to a neighbours Swift caravan to check the electrics were working.
When the indicators were operated on the Swift a trailer symbol came up on my dashboard display. However, when I connected the car to the Bailey, although the indicators on the van worked there was no symbol displayed. Unfortunately, I didn’t notice the change until after I left the dealership.
Can anyone help with why this should be the case. I would have thought if it worked with one van it should work with another?

Are the indicator lights actually working on the Bailey?
I was wondering if it could be that the Bailey has LED lights, I don't think LEDs were common in 2015 but previous owners could have changed the bulbs.
The smaller current taken by LEDs may not trigger the Freelander into knowing you have a trailer attached.

Yes. Everything working as it should on both car and Bailey. Not sure about LED bulbs. I will have a look at that possibility.. Thanks.

The early unicorn 111 had led lights fitted. These do not draw enough current for the tow vehicle to operate the trailer waning indicator.
The dealer had to fit a extra box full of resisters to overcome this issue.
Bailey denied that there was a problem but quickly redesigned the rear lighting and installed new fittings containing conventional bulbs.0 -
I have a 2015 Valencia and had to go through this process. The resister box is made by Sargent and is a straight forward plug in affair, sited between the thirteen pin connector cable and the main wiring loom.
You can tell the led versions as they have three lights either side and the later bulb type has four aside. Also the led ones are sealed units!
one thing I will say, is that I found that the Sargent box places resistors across all the lights, and this did originally cause the symptoms of a bad earth (secondary flashing of the stop lights) when the side lighting was also on and the tow vehicle engine wasn’t running. This was because of a conflict with the towing relay. Solved by disconnecting the resistors across the other lighting.

Thanks all.. I spoke to the dealership where I bought the van. They said there was an issue and when the van was new, (5 years ago) Bailey would, if asked, authorise a fix to be made at no cost. It would seem I've missed out on this so will monitor the situation and will have a fix applied if it's a problem. Unfortunately, I'm not that technically qualified so will have to get someone to sort it out for me!
As I said, earlier, all the lights and indicators were working normally on the van and tow vehicle when hitched up. I would just prefer to have some form of indication in the car to confirm to me that the indicators were working.
Appreciate all the replies.

I doubt it was anything to do with a fault on the Swift as I had the warning on my dashboard on both left and right indicators.
The Swift is also an older van than mine and so I doubt it would have LED's.
Thanks for the reply though.
