India would seem to disprove that.
BTW, in addition to windsurfers, jet skis etc I see there are now massed cockle pickers to contend with.

We do not share the excitement of some who apparently can't wait to visit pubs cafes restaurants etc. They are not places we used in the past to any great extent and the new covid restrictions do nothing to increase our desire to partake in their offerings... We had planned to visit a campsite maybe in July or August, but the level of availability is low and the prices are well beyond what we are prepared to pay so that plan is also shelved for the time being, at least with club sites. For us caution is king.

Even though the shops are open my wife and I have had no desire to go. I popped to the camping shop for some gas for the barbecue but, apart from the supermarket we haven't been anywhere. We have two weeks booked on a site in August but my wife's still not sure she wants to go yet. We're playing it by ear at the moment.
i see 4 July is a Saturday and, if the weather is good, I suspect the pubs, bars and cafes will be busy and social distancing will go out of the window.

Just had a message from one of the campsites that I had booked for easter but moved my deposit for a pitch in August.
They are opening on 4th July, all toilet blocks and shower facilities will be open, but you are advised to use your own facilities.
Cleaning will take place 3 times a day including black waste area's with a deep clean at Midday (the site has 4 facility blocks) so one will be locked at a time. the reception area is closed, refundable payment will be taken by telephone 2 days before arrival. On arrival you will have to remain in the vehicle, an arrival package will be passed to you through the window. There will be gloves and sanitiser freely available across the site, particulary at water and waste area's. the café and bar area will be open but outside only. indoor area is closed and soft furnishings removed, but the playing fields are open.
And the best bit pasties, newspapers and any othersundries required etc will be available to order by phone and delivered to your pitch

The new normal will be different. Most of the local population in the areas you visit are not involved in the tourist/hospitality sector. They are older and have self isolated. They will be anxious/worried and scared at the influx expected. The media no doubt will highlight all the transgressions making anxiety even worse. Be carful and sympathetic and hopefully all will have a good time.

Police swoop on '60 Chinese harvesters' in cockle picking operation at Hill Head
This is just pure madness, van loads coming down from what we suspect is the london area, they estimate the authorities confiscated 3 tonnes, so not only do we have covid to contend with we have the potential for 3 tonnes of contaminated sea food being pushed into the food chain, and, the cockle picking season ended on the 31st Mar and it is not officially allowed again until October. Have to say the Chinese do not do themselves any favours talk about shoot yourselves in the foot.

Interesting comparison map here, shows weekly change for all areas in England. Some differences are small, some large. It will probably get more startling once the holidays kick off, more movement around.

The cockle pickers have my sympathy, rather than my scorn. Victims of modern slavery, they didn’t have much choice to be there by the sound of it. Hope they now get well looked after. It’s going on all around us sadly.🙁

dont be too sympathetic quote from Portsmouth News
"In May last year The News revealed more than eight staff members from the Chinese Embassy were spotted scouring Hill Head beach arriving in cars with official Chinese diplomatic plates and Westminster parking permits."
and i sat with around 20 of them last night on our beach for a little while, very polite and children quite charming and youngsters desperate to try out their English, and the Merc's they drove off in were also quite impressive.

Perhaps they were checking out landing beaches for an invasion. Gently shelving, protected by the IOW and Daedalus to fly in extra stuff. Better sign up for the Home Guard.

best not come any time soon, no room on the beaches, Corona virus what is that I hear them say, 1m+ not a chance, perfect day, high tide between 1600 - 1700 so lots of safe swiming, well if you can find a spare spot, remember a beach in Spain where you could only walk out and stand in 1 spot so crowded, we got that, along with 28 degs, work, school, dont be silly Grandad they say

Breaking. Roads to Durdle Door have been closed this afternoon due to the amount of traffic flocking to the area. As temperatures hit 30C in Dorset, thousands of people have headed to the coast to enjoy the hot weather. ... We are closing ⛔ the access roads to Durdle Door
glad to see that 1m+ is not being observed in Dorset either, its going to be a long hot summer, lets hope we are ready for it.

What is it about Durdle Door that it's suddenly in the news so often, maybe a couple of "media" people have bought a property there?!
And we were warned about travelling in these high temperatures, you could get stuck to the roads...
We once went to the Isle of Skye in a heatwave, yes a heatwave..we had a new car, a white one and the council had decided to tarmac and re-grit the roads, the sort of roads that are a few feet wide and heading for the Cuillins. I think there is a song about it, about "putting love on me" in our case it was tar and gravel.

Our gradual rehabilitation with the outside world made another step to day when we went to our local B&Q. The store was quite well organised which couldn't really be said for the customers!!! I am coming to the view that many people now think there is no danger from COVID and they can go about their lives as they once did and this is probably been true for the last month? It is probably only those of us that were initially told we were vulnerable who still think we need to be more cautious and it is a difficult habit to get out of. The actual evidence does seem more encouraging with daily infections decreasing and the death rate falling although I fear that we now think 150 in a day is OK because it's so far below what it was a month or two ago. I don't see any evidence of the recent mass gatherings either on protest marches or during the recent spell of good weather creating a spike in new cases. Where there have been spikes seems to be down to specific working conditions. I wonder if the outbreaks in food processing factories both here and in Germany should set alarm bells ringing for when the weather gets colder. It could just be by then that COVID has such a low prevalence that it is more difficult to take hold if people are sensible. We have had instances of previous viruses fading away but their impact was nowhere near as great as COVID has been. I suppose only time will tell?

The previous easings have been fairly moderate in comparison to the one planned on July 4th. I think it is much too early to think we are in the clear. I consider that as one of the main dangers, even yesterday when I went for my walk, folk were not being as careful about maintaining the 2 metres and 1+ hasn't even started yet.😖
Personally I think it was a big mistake to make a huge announcement and then cancel the daily briefing. The daily trotting out of the graphs and figures, at least signaled covid is still an issue. Now I fear many think it's all over.

If the real advise instead of how the politicians have us to believe,
The second spike will hit come the Autumn into Winter as they now seem to think the virus is less "active" at this time of year ,and where cases are high now in Hot places is down to lack of commitment by the Govenments and also , as found in this country , larger communities and families in close proximity

Whilst a continuation of daily briefings is probably a bit superfluous, it would be helpful to maintain focus to do one on a weekly basis.
