Welsh holidays from 6 July - no caravanning...

I agree with you but your earlier post seemed to suggest, to my mind, that only visitors would gain. As one who lives in an area heavily dependant on the tourist industry, I understand the economics.

Jonray-The posters were the direct result of stupid non locals still travelling here during the peak of the epidemic. There were ample news headlines of the number of vehicles stopped and banal excuses for travelling. When this deadly epidemic is really under control ( just see the food factory outbreaks last week) and everyone feels safe there will be a welcome in all tourist areas, not just by those directly benefitting but by all of us living there. Its a shame we have to repeat this information without it being slanted as something else.

I think the worst case I read about, was a pilot, who flew from Surrey to Angelsey - just to be beside the seaside! Another was a certain Mr Cummings - which seems to have been forgotten very quickly.
Remember the queues in Snowdonia and the packed beaches?
Now we have raves and protests at weekends to contend with, where social distancing rules are totally abused, plus there are still around 1,000 deaths per week. And folk here cant wait to travel and expose themselves to a deadly disease. All bonkers to me

So why the barbed comment in your first post, Jonray, about Wales having so much reserves it can do without tourism ot tourists when your second post seems to be one of understanding the Welsh position of asking people not to travel there at the moment?
Judging from the comments of several members in certain tourist areas of England they also would prefer a stronger approach to restricting the influx of tourists, again at this moment, until matters improve.
Your 2 posts ars at variance with each other.

Not a barbed comment, just mere thoughts in reaction to seeing such blatantly vulgar signage. We should still be following government advice, wherever we live, in an effort to eradicate this virus. All this 'second guessing' as to when sites are to reopen (this and other establishments included) are doing nothing more than creating false hope for many. How come this club advertises some of their sites will reopen with facilities open, for example? English sites to reopen on July 4th, Northern Ireland whenever, Scotland & Wales when they are ready - social distancing, 2metres or 1 metre, family bubbles, wearing masks in public places, is a caravan a self-contained unit? It's all nonsense!! I've washed my hands of it this year (many times)

The signs were a natural reaction from the locals in view of the blatant disregards of the rules. Its difficult to be specific on openings. The outbreak in Anglesey now has 158 positives. Agree patience is needed as there are quite likely to be further problems ahead.

"Natural"? !!!! Don't give us that, Fish.
Devon and Cornwall have also suffered from irresponsible visitors but we're a little more restrained.

Your prediction appears to be coming true Fish. I see there are now 200 confirmed Covid 19 cases linked to the meat factory on Anglesey, 70 at Wrexham and 34 cases linked to a factory in Merthyr Tydfil. I wonder if it would now be better for the Welsh Government to impose more stricter local lockdowns in these areas to contain the virus rather than the blanket ban which is in place at the moment. Now that Wales has a good track and trace system up and running they can pinpoint where the hotspots are. Apparently, cases of coronavirus have generally fallen across Wales to fewer than 100 cases a day in the first few weeks of June.

Do Wales have wet markets like China?🤔. The common denominator seems to be around the slaughtered animal areas.

Heard the same conclusion was reached about the spread of COVID in hospitals, it was the relax areas where it was likely spread between staff.

There does seem to be a common denominator in food processing places Rocky. Remember the big outbreak at one in America at the start of the outbreak there, now a huge one in Germany at a Meat processing factory resulting in a lockdown of the town, 3 in Wales and 1 in Leeds plus I seem to recall a large one at an Abattoir.
What makes them different from other processing places where workers come together? One would think these places would have stringent safety procedures in place.

In reply to DavidK about where outbreaks start. At Weston S M hospital recently the covid outbreak was traced to the staff accommodation area. I suppose people take off some of the protective gear as they relax a bit more etc. The same for work areas away from the production lines etc. The workers at the meat processing place looked well geared up with protective gear, I thought it was a tough job doing that all day but the place looked very well organised on the protective gear front.

We have had an email from the club today saying the Welsh sites will open on the 13th and asking us to modify our booking as we have a booking starting on the 12th.

They say the new Corona type viruses crossed species🤷🏻♂️

The factors influencing breakouts in meat processing/abattoirs etc is said to be down to temperature (almost down to freezing), close contact on the busy production lines, noisy environment (workers have to shout to make themselves heard and therefore droplets spread further) and the crowding together of workers in limited coffee break areas.
This is what a Prof. Whitty said earlier in the week. I’m sorry they stopped the Press Briefings. Can understand why they did but I miss his common sense, honest approach to any questions. I always felt reassured after he explained stuff....then I went on Facebook and it scared the pants off me.

The first minister of Wales stated 19th June that they would consider on 9th July certain things. CONSIDER on 9th. Included for consideration was self contained holiday accomodation and mentioned caravan parks. He was clearly referring to static caravan parks of which there are many in Wales. I think the clubs assumtion that touring sites would be included is premature. The club is taking bookings and doesnt know whether the sites will be permitted to open nor what limitaions may be set.

I got the club email too but bit puzzled by the Welsh sites opening as the Welsh Gov website says:
Can I book holiday accommodation?
You are able to make a forward booking for a stay that takes place after 13 July. However, this will only be able to be fulfilled if the anticipated change to the law is made. The Welsh Government will continue to monitor the public health position and there is a risk any booking made may be cancelled. Please speak with your accommodation provider for information about their cancellation policy. What kind of accommodation is being considered for re-opening?
Accommodation without shared facilities – this is accommodation, which is entirely self-contained with kitchens and bathrooms that no other guests use. This includes self-catering cottages and apartments and caravans with their own bathroom facilities.Hotels and other serviced accommodation, for example, B&Bs and hostels, which have ensuite rooms and can provide room service meals, also come into this category.
Will touring caravan parks be allowed to open?
We are working with the tourism industry to look at how we can begin to reopen parts of the sector over the next three weeks ahead of the next review of the regulations by 9 July. This will be considered as part of that review.which suggests they haven't given a date for touring sites yet.

The scenes from Bournemouth today will probably be enough to curtail touring site opening here in Wales. If this is what we can expect when LOCAL travel restrictions are relaxed then there will be no welcome. Similarly the club by announcing Supermarket deliveries to sites will put a huge pressure on home deliveries which are already difficult for us in Isolation. Please wait until there is an official notification from the Welsh Government and read the small print when it comes. Usually announcements are made at 12.30 Fridays.

Yet your LOCAL system is failing, your spikes within your own part of the UK are perhaps showing that? And please no reasons about all living in one house gain, that happens all over the Uk and we haven't got spikes yet.

You keep citing examples from England but equally I'll quote your post with one minor change:
'The scenes from Ogmore-by-sea today will probably be enough to curtail touring site opening here in Wales'. And you will have no one to blame but your own.
Lockdown restrictions will not be eased if large parties and fights at beaches continue in Wales, the first minister has warned.
Videos on social media showed large crowds at Ogmore-by-Sea, Vale of Glamorgan, followed by violent clashes on Thursday evening
See Fish, caravaners in glass caravans shouldn't throw stones
