We wont be using any pub or restaurant with just a 1 metre distancing. I realise why it has been reduced but I think only the young and the people who have not been too cautious will be frequenting these places, for the present at least. I really can see another spike. As I have said before we all have to do our own risk assessments and act accordingly.

I see the daily coronavirus press briefings are being axed. About time, you didn't learn a lot from them anyway.

If you leave it until then, you may be too late. I would start now if I were you. It's never a good thing to warn others of your intentions. It may start a stampede.

I'm hoping pubs etc will continue with their take away meals. We tried one from our local pub for the first time last week and it was well planned with a collection time and the food was good. If we're going away I hope we'll still find some places offering this service, it's probably the nearest we'll get to a pub at the moment unless there's lots of well spaced outside seating.

I can understand that but surely the daily death rate is even more alarming? Perhaps the Government have a reason or maybe, unlike deaths which are collected by other means, the NHS doesn't have time to collate them? Although they tell us everyday (or did) how many NHS beds are occupied.

We will be off to Cornwall on July 4th. But it will be a very different sort of visit to normal. No popping in and out of each other's vans for drinks, no walking on the beaches at busy times no visits to our favourite pubs this time  and most shopping done before we go.

But what we will be able to do is meet up on the dunes early morning with our dog walking friends who live down there and walk the coast paths during the day. Quiet evenings in enjoying our own company.

I'm sure there will be a great deal of anxiety from folk who live in the most popular areas.  We just have to hope that all visitors will play their part and remain vigilant. We'd hate to have to endure another 3 months away.

People have been fearing / predicting a 2nd wave of the outbreak for weeks. After the VE Day street parties, after the crowds at the coast during the hot weather, after the BLM protests, after the opening of non essential shops...

    Thankfully, the wave didn’t happen.

Lets hope it will be the same with the latest relaxation of the restrictions.
Take care, everyone, but let’s enjoy the summer. 🙂

I do hope that cornwall and lake district and other places who have requested people to "stay local" will now be more welcoming. They need our £££ for their local economy and we all like to feel welcome. we can't wait to get back in the caravan and travel to favourite places, observing careful distancing and having walks and bike rides in beautiful locations. We an stay away from shops and crowded areas, but a beer garden with a great view would be wonderful

You'll be welcome as long as you behave sensibly as Moulesy described above. Problems will likely arise if people flout the rules and breach social distancing. Stay safe, stay happy.

we have had anxiety for the past couple of months, our area has been flooded with Mh's/campervans, windsurfers, kite boarders, jet skies, cycled to my daughters today for a swim and fix a couple of bikes and all the car parks were full, but anxiety might be a bit strong, we have been concerned especially when you see a group of 12 or more youngsters having a bbq in the beach area, but our infection rates locally are very low so we must be doing something right, maybe, as the eggheads have said, the youngsters do seem to be immune.

+1 pliers👏🏻👏🏻, it seems to be a well managed emergence from the strict rules. Thus far it’s been positive. If you want to see worrying trends look at the poor folk in the USA, they’re Still gaining casualties as part of the mismanaged 1st wave☹️. We’re doing ok👍🏻

If the covid virus is anything like the flu, I reckon the most likely time for a second wave will be in the winter, so lets get away whilst we can. The scientists think the virus doesn't like the sunshine so God help us in the winter.

I agree they were becoming increasingly uninformative - slightly amusing in the way ministers would respond to the public questions with "thank you, that's very good question"  but bridle at the professionals' questions.

But I do wonder if it might send a signal to some that all is now resolved and we're back to normal - the message that we're not still needs hammering home.

Still, it'll make a change to have Pointless back on BBC at 5 o'clock ( well maybe not that much of a change! wink)

Prof Witty let out of the bag exactly the same thing at the brief, either on purpose or by accident......…... the scientists ARE worried.

A professor in Spain said way back in March that once the temperature in Spain hit 30 degs the virus would die

Well here's praying that all goes well & we don't see an increase due to the lifting of lockdown.

From a personal point of view we will not be going anywhere anytime soon. Start of the year we were looking forward to a minimum of 12 holidays this season & we've scrapped the lot of them.

Last trip away was to visit family for the Grandkids birthdays in March.

We don't have very much faith in the powers that be's handling & assessment of the situation so we will just carry on as we are.

Our health means a sight more to us than rushing to get away to a caravan site.

Interesting that Professor Whitty said today that two metres is still the best distance to keep to despite the rule change!

I'm sure most people understand that 2 metres will be more effective  than 1 metre distance + in preventing the spread of the virus, but the government have also had to consider the damage the current restrictions are doing to the economy. At 2 metres many businesses would still not be able to operate profitably. It will still be difficult for some at 1 metre+

It's been said before, and it's probably true, that with proper precautions ie adequate ppe , screens etc., it could be safer at 1m than ordfinary 2m. If only people will apply some common sense, it will get better.

That is the fatal flaw in Boris's plan. It relies upon the "common sense" of the English public. Good luck with that.
