hi folks , i currently have AA breakdown but have just heard they wont cover my caravan for recovery , i use them because i have 3 cars and a motorcycle and they cover me for all of them , i went to green flag website to try and join but got confused ,  it seems to want me to register my cars at an extra £25 per car and no mention of motorcycle anywhere , i did see personal cover so wondered if you could just register one car then take personal cover so i am covered in all my other vehicles ??   is this correct ?  thanks in advance .

We have taken personal cover, so that covers myself and my wife in ANY vehicle we are using (not sure about a motorcycle) .  We have done it this way as our daughter has similar cover herself, so she is covered in our cars, and now we in hers.

Make sure you take out MAYDAY, not just ordinary Green Flag.

Mayday is £25 optional extra (under additional vehicle cover) for up to 5 more vehicles (not each) registered at the same address, and says this in their policy booklet:

Insured Vehicle: any vehicle we have
agreed to cover and which is shown on your
    certificate provided it:
    • is either a motor car, motor cycle, three
wheeler, car based van, motorhome or motor
caravan, privately registered in the United
    Kingdom
    • carries no more than the number of persons
recommended by the manufacturer (and for
    whom seats are provided)
    • is a standard caravan or trailer which meets
the requirements listed under Caravan and Trailer
cover on page 11 and was being towed by another
Insured Vehicle at the time of the Insured Incident
or a detached caravan which is temporarily
immobilised as a result of being parked on soft
ground. If you have Premium UK Plus we’ll also
cover an Insured Vehicle if it’s broken down at
your home address or the place where it is usually
    kept, before you start towing.

That's RAC Arrival which is very similar to Mayday. No weight or length restrictions and personal cover. You may need to join C&CC although sometimes there are offers in terms of free membership or vouchers.

many thanks for replies ,  now got maydy cover , the answer is if you have 2 cars register the additional car , if you have more than 2 cars choose personal cover for unlimited cars and motorcycles , seems a bit strange way to word it on their website , i asked why anyone would bother choosing the  aditional cars option and was told ones £25 and ones £32 , so seven quid cheaper  if you only want 2 cars . lol

I suppose the other reason might be the separate cards. When we had two cars and a caravan, I paid the £25 for the second car. The cards had the car numbers on and could just be left in the relevant car. Now we have a MH we have switched to personal cover, to cover all three.

You only get two cards with the primary vehicle number on (in our case the MH). You therefore have to rember to carry them with you. If I was just driving somewhere locally I didn't always take my wallet if not needed. Now I have to rember to do so, or extract the card.

we have AA cover with 2 cars and 1 caravan, never had a problem, they cover the person not the vehicle so we each have an AA card but no mention of vehicle on the card, we have used it for cover in Europe also, only problem we might have is the dog, but this has been discussed many times on here, and "the drivers discretion" is the option you have to live with here and over there,.

A few years back we buth had personal cover but included Emily on our MayDay & her car's reg was that printed on the card. I'd used MayDay a couple of time to recover me but was never ever asked to produce the membership card ... and I could never remember Emily's car's reg number anyway.

hi folks , well ive just phoned the AA to cancel my cover , when asked why i was leaving i said because i have a caravan and i cant make the 3500kg weight limit , i then got a talking to because it clearly states on the AA website that i can have a 3500kg caravan and a 3500kg car , i argued that nowhere on their site does it state this and no mention of combined weight of 7500 kg , he said it does , so we argued and now we  are not friends ,  am i wrong ??  i cant find anything that states that the 3500 is NOT a combined weight ??
