I can certainly understand your concerns W2G. Although if getting to see a GP is only a problem in tourist season "During the summer months it is almost impossible to get a GP appointment." you are doing better than us in this part of the world.

At the moment our GPs are doing phone consultations, but if it is not possible then they are doing home visits surprised

We have been doing this for months, and as far as I am concerned it works well. We opted for electronic prescription repeats a couple of years ago, and I have been doing telephone interviews about my parents situation for around five years now, surgery keeping a check and recording all details of my parents care, rather than a GP wasting vital time on routine stuff. They always stress that a surgery or home visit is encouraged if anything out of the ordinary is required. Routine blood pressure checks are still carried out.

It does sound as though some GP surgeries leave a lot to be desired to be honest. Ours don’t always get things right first time, but they do seem better than most. They are very proactive. It might be that our GP team has had a big shake up with more younger GPS in the team now, embracing the technology and communications available.

I am hoping that A&E gets a good shake up as well. Far too many folks go there when somewhere else would be more appropriate, however, part of this might be down to poor GP services. All linked.

A&E services in holiday areas just get utterly swamped. Folks do strange things while on holiday, hence more accidents, bad sunstroke, fights, food related illnesses..... I know, I got travel sick last year, utterly off my feet, an interesting day in A&E in the Dales.Guilty M’Ludembarassed

It's interesting that you mentioned food deliveries, WTG, because I read somewhere that deliveries could be considered at a collection point on sites reopening. Can't find it now but I'm wondering how much pressure will be put on the delivery systems and click and collect if visitors add to the system which has taken so long to sort out? In fact supermarkets could be very busy in holiday areas and perhaps this year visitors should stock up before travelling?

We've not let stocks dwindle since the start of lockdown in case of a second wave of virus, visitors or both.

I’m restocking the van before we go away (not to Wales) on the 4th July.  Apart from food and drink there will be additional cleaning products including sanitisers and wipes.  Apart from site fees the local North Norfolk economy won’t make much out of us

I would if I thought it would help, but Cardiff is well over a hundred miles from Pembrokeshire, so well beyond my 5 miles leash.

As an asideI have never known folk congregate around a cassette emptying station, which science has shown is one of the most likely Covid transfer places.

I have contact two Labour AM's asking for clarity regarding Touring Caravn's and Motorhomes, as they haven't been mentioned, only statics, and am still waiting for a reply.

There is always a welcome in the hillside as long as you keep the 2 meter rule.laughinglaughing

Pembrokeshire's population triples with tourist over the summer months, but the power that be have decided to close the local A&E dept in the evenings, no maternity unit, it means that a journey of between 20 to 50 miles for treatment.

And don't forget the loo rolls if we get hit by a second wave of holiday maker stock piling! laughing

Looks like social distancing is about to go by the board so anyone over the age of sixty will just have to look out for themselves.

Cheers Cariadon. It's as I understood the instructions. Can't see Sanitary blocks being open even on Club sites unless they can convince the FM.

There is no point in Wales or any other holiday destination anywhere opening up if visitors are not going to spend money in the area. There will be no benefit to these places. No gain but plenty of pain. Advising people to take all their own food with them etc. will add nothing to their economy. The only people to gain would be the visitors.

The people renting out accommodation/pitches would gain. That's what constitutes income into the local economy, not a few quid spent in the nearby Tesco.

For every £1 we spend on a site I suspect that at least 80p is spent in the local community, excluding shopping and fuel. If you include fuel and shopping the spend in the local community is likely in the order of £1.20 for every £1 of site fees. It will be a while before local businesses pick up in resort areas where much trade is seasonal.

Having seen some of the posters here, perhaps we the locals are glad Caravaners are not coming. Isnt part of the holiday participating in local produce not bringing your own supermarket muck.( Cant believe some here are representitive of Vaners as a whole hopefully) There has to be respect for the locals  Our health and other services are not as good or expansive as towns. Unless that is taken into account there will not be a welcome. The first minister said " the views of the locals must be taken into account before tourism restarts". We will start with Self catering and Static vans and see how it develops. If you cant accept that tough.

Where ever we go to ,we try to use the local independent shops , after owning an independent shop I know what it’s like to try and make a living , even if the product is a few pence more I would rather put the money in to the  independent shop owner than give it to a large multiple which ends being given to shareholders

Having travelled on the 'wrong' side of Offas Dyke to reach a venue back in England, a few miles down the road, I was aware of the local's roadside signs advising me to Foxtrot Oscar and stay out of Wales! Obviously, with such a strong economy, Wales has so many reserves it can do without tourism or tourists and it would appear the welcoming nature of some of it's inhabitants has also suffered during the pandemic.

Yes, the local community will only benefit if the visitors spend their money there. That's what I posted. Whether that be by renting the properties there or buying goods there. I don't think you should under estimate the benefit for the local economy of visitors buying their goods in local shops, especially the smaller ones.
