Fitting motor mover

Hi,

Have been doing up 2001 coachman caravan and due to the road and tight turn have bought a motor mover to make it easier to get it on the drive.

I haveohave a towsure movemaster which looks relatively straight forward to fit. I am a tradesman so am used to working with my hands.

However I have noticed there are a couple of brackets on the chassis that are held in place with a stud drilled through the lip of the chassis and held with a nut, would these have been from an earlier type of mover. Looking at them I would say they will be in the way of the new chassis brackets.

I took the nut off but the stud doesn't move so I think the only way to move this bracket would be to cut through the stud.

Anyone got ant experience with this what I presume was a previous motor mover or was there a way these studs can be removed.

I am in the last phase of this renovation and apart from my crap carpet fitting skills am well pleased with it and the motor mover would at last see it finished.

Any ideas on these brackets or what they are for don't want to cut them off in case they are important.

Any ideas from the more experienced caravaner as I'm still relatively new to the game.

Baymare.

The may well be the fixings for jacking points, which should be mentioned in the handbook - ex-online if you don't have the paper one.

They could well be mountings for jacking points, which will be in the handbook - ex-online if you don't have the paper copy.

Thanks they are only about 1 1/2  to 2 inches long. I have a hand book I'll check haven got the mover yet so I'll wait to see if they are going to be in the way. I thought the might have been mounting brackets for an earlier type of mover as they are about 6 inches in front of the wheel..

    Thanks

Fitting a mover should not involve making holes in the chassis. Who takes the liability if there is a failure?  Chassis maker, mover maker, mover fitter?

If these studs are in the way it may be possible to fit the mover behind the axle.  Just connect the wiring other way round and handset will appear normal.

Thanks I'll wait till the mover arrives and get a better idea of where the pinch plates fit on the chassis.

I think it might fit behind the axle ok but I will just have to wait till it arrives next week.

Still haven't got a clue what these two small brackets are for I've searched the internet and can't see anything like them.

They are probably similar to these:-

Could be as I can only see the threaded side. I could quite easily cut them out if it turns out they are in the way but fitting behind the the axle would be less work.

Can't see much difference front or behind in operation, some fitters and manufacturers recommend front due to excessive spray from the tyres if fitted behind. I would think the brackets would be for jacking points.

Thanks I'll post again once I've got it fitted and any problems I encountered for reference.

Well mover arrived Monday night. Didn't fit on Tuesday as it was chucking it down. I fitted it today works fine. Still haven't a clue what these little brackets were so it took a couple of secs to cut them off as they were in the way. Couldn't fit behind the axle due to spare.

Job was very easy apart from the lack of room underneath could have done with getting it a foot higher. Used couple of scissor jack's to present the whole assembly up on to the chasis to get the bolts in finger tight.

    Glad it went well.

Thanks for coming back with the outcome, so many people ask for advice & we never hear from them again.

Found out what the brackets on the chassis were. Motor mover stop blocks.
