New caravan with white mould on cupboards doors
Help
We have had two second-hand caravans in the past, so when my husband retired we purchased a new eldiss midhurst super plus from Sussex caravans in December 2019 . We didn't use it until February 2020 and the first night after sleeping in it we woke to all the cupboards covered in a ingrained white dust . We had one more night . We took it back to Sussex caravans and they said it was bloom and that a lot of caravans get it . We left it with them and they repaired the seal around the door and porch light and left a Dr humidifier runninh in it . It was not available for collection before lock down. So we were unable to pick it up until today , as we can now get into our caravan club storage site . We were very sad to see it still had the white dust ( mould ) on some of the doors . We saw a different person this time and he said he had never seen anything like it . So they have kept the caravan to look into it further . We spent our savings on this new caravan and feel very worried we have got a dud one . Does anyone have any idea why this is happening and why they would have to redo the seals on the door and porch light on a new caravan
Thankyou ..

It’s mould and it happens in the right/wrong ambient settings. It doesn't necessarily mean there’s a problem. Caravans, by necessity, have many air vents and those vents also allow damp air to enter. Sometimes using a furniture spray polish such as Pledge seems to encourage mould. We've had it before and just cleaned it off and carried on regardless.
