Sites in England to open 4th July
Am I the first to read this? I think I read it about an hour ago. Good news?

Hi everyone,
In line with UK Government advice, we are very pleased to share with you our plan to open some of our campsites from 4 July 2020. At the moment this applies to our sites in England only. The timescales for reopening our Club sites in Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland will be published once we have permission from their administrations.
We are planning a phased reopening starting with our campsites in England to ensure that they are adapted to the new social distancing and safety requirements set out by the UK government.
At this moment we are not allowed to open all of our Club sites, however, we will constantly review whether we are able to open any more campsites in the future. Our priority is first and foremost the health and safety of our staff, our members, our guests and the local communities.

It's pretty much as we expected except we now have lists of those that will open and those that won't.

Maps a bit iffy. Comes on in the artic ocean, then made a bolt for africa😂
Have I missed an announcement, as the page is worded very much like a done deal. Heading Sites to reopen from the 4th July. Surely that is all dependant on what happens in the next few weeks and given the back tracking on schools, is very far from a done deal.

I don’t think we've missed anything, Steve. We don’t know what the leisure industry might have been told but, at present, it’s a plan rather than a done deal.
"In line with UK Government advice, we are very pleased to share with you our plan to open the majority of our campsites from 4 July 2020."

Excellent news. It’s time to start salvaging the country’s economy and were better than with tourism. Covid19:hasn’t gone away so we will all have to behave responsibly within the guidance we can’t stay locked away any longer.
Those who feel wary or uncomfortable of course have the right to remain in the confines of their home and immediate location and we all need to be respectful of this and as I said above behave responsibly.

I have looked at much of the mapping and note that sites are indicated by a motor caravan symbol of vaious colours. It could be part of the precautions involved in reopening that sites will remain closed to trailer caravans, but I have not managed to find any text that indicates this one way or the other.
Has anyone on here read or heard anything about this?

A member of the public via video asked Alok Sharma at the government daily briefing today about when self catering camping and cottage hire can start. He didn't give a direct answer, just said that the government would "Continue to support our businesses". He did NOT say when any camping or caravan parks could reopen. Is it safe to assume that the CAMC will reopen on 4th July?

Well it's a step in the right direction

The Business Secretary was singularly evasive and didn't answer the question. (surprise, surprise)
I wouldn't place any bets with Ladbrokes yet, notwithstanding they'll be opening on Monday, presumably.

Evening
The statement from the club does say that they "plan" to open on 4th July. Don't assume anything.

I personally think that unless anything changes drastically around the R number then the sites will open. Economic necessity will drive the politics as the science is considered but not necessarily the driver any longer.
Tourism and the leisure sector can’t lose the summer economically

I don’t want to pour cold water on this announcement but I have just listened to the daily press briefing given by Alok Sharma.
He was specifically asked when campsites would open and he wouldn’t/couldn’t answer but kept saying it was “under review”.
Can Rowena confirm if the Club knows something Sharma doesn’t and if this opening date is definite?
Also, will CLs open from the same date?

This great news and clearly indicates a lot of work has gone on in the background so well done club. However and once again WHY has this not been emailed out to the membership the vast majority of which do not frequent this forum or facecloth or witter?

I really fail to see the point of the Question and Answer section every day. Answers are never forthcoming no matter how many times the. question is asked.
I did enjoy today's ITV questioner Joel Hill who was getting more and more exasperated with Alok Sharma, repeating the same mantra over and over again.

I imagine it will be mailed to all members once it becomes a reality rather than a plan.

He was evasive and I thought it odd that he could give dates about shops etc but not even a hint of when campsites could open. I assume hotels or any holiday accommodation are in the same boat. What with quarantine on foreign travel, i thought it sounded like the govenrnent want to restrict travel for much longer. It didn't sound very hopeful to me.

In the statement issued by the club, it lists Berwick Seaview and the River Breamish sites as being in Scotland and under their regulations, whereas they are both in Northumberland and hence regs. covering England.
Can someone from the club clear this point up as I am booked to go to River Breamish in July.
This point has been raised in the thread -Nunnykirk.
