Managing the toilet and wash rooms
When the sites do reopen how will the club manage social distancing in these areas, or will they stay closed.
Does this mean we will have to use our own facilities.

People keep asking but, as yet, no one knows. The latest update tells us almost nothing.

As TW says nobody knows. However, with the R value at its current level, the still high number of infections / daily death toll, I personally think it would be madness to open them. Having said that sites are not going to open until July the fourth at the earliest and they tell us this will be dependant on figures continuing to fall.
On this matter we will have to wait and see. The initial unlocking occurred at a far too high figure in my opinion. The same may happen with the next phase. If that is the case there is no way I would contemplate using a facilities block, or even visiting a site unless the occupancy rate was greatly reduced.

Social distancing in similar way to toilets at motorway services and supermarkets which are already open.

So, the opening of Shower blocks is basically down to the UK Gov granting permission.
If they do open the shower blocks, rest assured there will a rigorous cleaning routine put in place. A risk assessment of every site will be completed as well. The club are on the case !
This event is going to have an impact, from arriving on site, to using service points, to loo access, friends visiting etc etc.
It is also quite complex for the surrounding businesses. There will be an influx of people into towns that needs to be managed.
Hope this helps a bit

And we've never found out the result of the members survey that nobody knew about. Does anybody know what any of the questions were? I'll bet one of them was something to do with the toilet facilities.
All these discussions will be meaningless if the R number goes up and given the turn of events yesterday and lately we may not need to worry about July 4th

Thanks, Mark. People are desperate for information but we have to wait and all will become clear in due course.
I'm pleased to hear the impact on local communities is being considered as many people don’t seem to think beyond life on site and we need to think of others.
Me, I'm staying put for quite a while yet.

We have a motor home with a smallish but usable shower cubicle, which, like many others is often used for extra storage, and we use the site facilities USUALLY, but these are unusual times, and needs must. So, we are planning on using our own facilities for the foreseeable future, to facilitate that we are buying a small upright tent, which we will leave on our pitch, to hold all the 'odds n sods' that live in the shower cubicle. And we will carry both a water and waste carrier to help the smallish onboard tanks, do-able, so will be looking for cheaper non- facilities sites.

The toilets along the coasts here were all open last Friday, but every other cubical and men's 'facility' taped off.

Tinwheeler I'm afraid it is impossible to second guess what the outcomes might be for all of us, members and staff. For example, England might allow blocks to open, yet Wales could potentially keep them closed. Until we get a definitive answer, it is best not to speculate.
Hopefully, by mid June we will all get the clarity we require from the Gov to move forward at sensible pace.
Site staff are receiving frequent internal updates from EGH. A snippet of information. Every two weeks, one site staff person is unfurloughed for a couple of days (site specific as per acreage size) This person will be cutting grass. Once finished they then become furloughed again. This means, we can hit the ground running and not delay the opening process and longer than it needs to be.

Personally, we shall be using our own facilities. If on a Club site with loo block, we might use the loo if passing, but wont do that either now. We always use our own shower and do washing up in the van.
In terms of possible infection control, I think it would be sensible for people to use their own facilities. There are probably some van conversions, and older vans with shower, but the vast majority do have everything they need on board.

If the public allow them to stay like that.
I understand the seafront at Seaham Harbour, in your area, was a scene of mayhem last weekend with drunkeness, fighting and people using "Tommy" as a toilet.
You will never educate some people and that unfortunately includes some members

Agree with others, in that it remains to be seen whether sites can indeed open on the 4th of July as hoped.
A bit of inside info upthread was useful, especially the consideration of the impact on local communities; I'd say that is a very important consideration.
