Hi,

Is it ok to sell a caravan in lockdown?

We are selling our caravan privately and as dealers are open from 1June is it ok for people to view?

We would clean can between viewings?

Thanks

You are not a caravan dealer so the issue of dealerships opening has no bearing on the matter.

Remember social distancing, limits on the number of people from different households you can meet outdoors and limits on the distance a prospective buyer can travel. All this, of course, depends on which part of the UK you’re in.

It's up to you whether you think you can comply with the regs but I ask myself if I’d want every Tom, Dick and Harry visiting and traipsing around my van at this time. The answer I give myself is a strong "no". Your choice, though. 🤷🏻‍♂️

Why not make a good video of your van and if/when you get any interest you can forward video to them. Saves them a trip and wasting your time cleaning after every visit.

I advertised my caravan 2 weeks ago on the well known auction site but as a classified ad. I had lots of emails the first day and plenty of silly offers. A couple of serious buyers made appointments for the next day and the first to see it bought it and towed it away. Luckily they only lived six miles away.laughingcool

I just gave them a key and let them look at it themselves but answering any questions that they asked.

I then cancelled my insurance and membership, although I notice it still says I am a member on the forum?undecided

Maybe the wheels of CT grind exceedingly slow?

You are not alone. I know of one other in exactly the same situation.

Membership of the forum is Independent of club membership. However to the OP, as an individual there was no legislation to stop you buying or selling over the past few weeks. The more enlightened car and caravan dealers were still selling on line and as a private individual you can do what you like. Now will be a VERY good time to sell, lots of hype about the virus ‘rules’, bear in mind the risk of catching it is 1in1000, in other words VERY low.
