Responding to Rowena's suggestion that “it would be really nice to share some stories” and to “get some inspiration from your photos for when this is all over”, I thought that it might be amusing to share some of our 'Ice Cream Selfies'.
They're mainly from overseas trips with one exception; however, they all suffer from two deficiencies. Firstly, I never think to take a photo until we've scoffed the the tops of our cones; secondly. You can't tell from the back ground where they've been taken!

When you all get back to Summer touring ( we're in shielded 12-week isolation), perhaps we could have a competition for ice-cream selfies. Singles, couples, best background, mystery location, best photoshop fake, most exotic setting – just some of the categories we could have!

Meanwhile here's our selection,
Chas

No favourites jonray. Can't say we've ever regretted buying an ice cream anywhere! The Bernerie cone was actually a strawberry sorbet sort of thing, but poetic licence allowed its inclusionsmile

Strawberries (fraise) are a big thing down in that part of France.

Have to agree with your sentiments entirely but the ice cream on Krk (and Cres), for me, tasted just that little bit extra tasty! 😀

Croatian ice cream is as good as Italian, but not so pricey! Like you, we're big fans of  Krk and Cres. Our days of traveling that far are over, so have a blob of pistachio for us next time you're down there!cool

We should be back in Cavalaire right now but the plan seems to have been scuppered, so here's an addition from our back gardencool

Nice to see your both still around and enjoying life. I haven't been on the forum for probably well over a year and perhaps 2? But I wanted to see any comments about the sites reopening before we go to Henley in a couple of weeks and saw your posts.

During the lockdown I posted a virtual 8 week tour on my Instagram account, rkt480, which I now use instead of here.

It was our first trip to Croatia at this time in 2015 and I thought of you from our discussions during the planning. We picked as our first stop there the town of Krk, where I know you said Kath liked to swim in the sea, and posting the photos jogged my memory of you telling us that.

Over the years we have visited a number of places/sites you have recommended so thank you for that. Sorry but we couldn't add a selfie of us eating ice creams but I almost dug out one of Sharon I have seen from that tour of just her on the beach at Fazana.

Last year we had the most rain ever in Garda, Italy so drove the 600 miles to near Perpignan where the forecast was dry weather. It had been the worst storm in living memory the locals told us. Never done that before but it was well worth the journey. As we drove along the French Riviera I thought of you both then, as I recall you once saying your favourite site was in that area. We had never been there before but I tried to remember where it was you said. I couldn't so stopped mid way at Cannes instead, during the festival too.

Funny how some people you have never met physically keep popping up in your mind wink

    Take care & keep safe.

    Regards

    Roy
